Adult Leaders,
Polaris District hosted the annual banquet/social on Thursday March 17th. We recognized Eagle Scouts, Extra Milers, several adult leader awards.
Here is a list of awards receipients:
District Award of Merit: David Leffman
A den leader and a Webelos leader in Pack 7. He also was the Assistant Scoutmaster of Troop 415 and currently is the Scoutmaster and Institutional head for Troop 15. He serves as an Ordeal member in the Order of the Arrow and is the Nestain Chapter Advisor. He has been Assistant Roundtable commissioner and he currently starting his 3 year as the Boy Scout Roundtable Commissioner and is now also serving on the Yucca Council Executive Board.
Polaris Star: Pauline Pechacek
She is the Committee Chair for Pack 96 and is the assistant Webelos Den leader. She has help out at day  Camp for the past 3 years , 2 years as a Den leader and this past year she took on the daunting task as Business Manager. She has also stepped in this past year and ran a few of our District Cub Scout Roundtables and just recently agreed to become a Co-Commissioner for the Cub scout Roundtables. She has a lot of great ideas and energy that will help Polaris grow in the future.
Polaris Star: Lynne Thompson
Lynne has helped Polaris District increase our membership this past year to the point that we reached and even went past our goal. She also has helped at day camp as our Range Master. She loves helping her Troop 429 so much, that she went with them to camp last summer.  Even though her son crossed over from Pack 7 into Troop 429, she still offers help to her old Pack. She does all this with a smile, and brings joy to everything that she does.
Scout Master of the Year: Mike Berroteran
This Scoutmaster is an Eagle scout, he has been in scouting for over 30 years. He has held the positions of Tiger Cub Coach, Cub Scout Den Leader, Webelos Den leader, Cub Scout Committee member Cubmaster, Explorer Post Volunteer Leader, Assistant Scoutmaster, Unit Commissioner, District Camping Chair and Scoutmaster for the past 7 years in which he has helped his Troop receive the gold in Journey to Excellence.  In the past years he has received the Polaris Star and has become a Vigil member in the Order of the Arrow. He has gone through Woodbadge and attended many more trainings. As a Scoutmaster he is revered by both the boys and the adults, and has a nice balance between leading the boys, and letting the boys run the troop, via the support of the SPL and other boy leadership.
Cub Master of the Year: Paul Leenheer
This Cubmaster, not served a full year as Cubmaster, he has always been a leader within his Unit. He started as an Assistant Den Leader and then became a Den Leader when his Den needed him. He is very active in all activities of the Pack, and helps motivate others to be involved as well. He is always asking questions to make himself a better leader of his den and our Pack. What really makes him stand out for Cubmaster of the year, is when we need him the most, he stepped up with little hesitation. He hit the ground running! We had a very disheartening event happen with our previous Cubmaster. We were suddenly without a Cubmaster and down a den leader. During a time of what could have been great losses, he helped the pack tremendously with Damage Control and was able to help our Pack feel safe. He was one of very few key players in helping unite and keep our pack together. He has helped bring Reverence back to our Pack Meetings and is trying to take our pack in direction of fun and service!
Spouse of the Year: Lupita Burke
Lupita been very supportive in her husband volunteer service to his unit, district and council. Mike Burke is the Assistant Scoutmaster of Troop 164 and when he goes off to Boy Scout camp and Troop campouts, she is always there to help him. She does not even complain when he helps out at Day Camp, or when he take the boys to Merit Badge University. She is very understanding, as he goes off to assist in a few district Eagle Boards, or when he attends a roundtable or two.
