New Bold Challenges phase aims to support, catalyze research
The University of Michigan recently launched a new phase of its Bold Challenges Initiative to support and foster interdisciplinary research that addresses broad societal challenges. The Office of the Vice President for Research designed Bold Challenges to align U-M research strengths with global challenges and emerging priorities across government, industry and philanthropy.

President Joe Biden recently announced the appointment of U-M Professor Deborah Loewenberg Ball to the National Science Board, which oversees the strategic direction of the National Science Foundation.

Payne Collegiate Professor of Education spoke with Michigan Research about what motivated her to study education and how her leadership style has been influenced by her experiences as an elementary school teacher, research professor and dean.
