Partner Spotlight

For more than 50 years the Parma City School District’s Adult Education Program has been dedicated to helping adult students achieve their literacy and educational goals. What began as a small program in the Parma area has blossomed into an expansive literacy powerhouse across the Greater Cleveland area. With over 30 different sites holding classes that specialize in Adult Basic Education, GED© Preparation, Workforce Training, ESOL (English for Speakers of Other Languages), English Languages/Civics Education, TOFEL Test Preparation, US Citizenship Test Preparation and College Success Workshops, Parma Adult Education has impacted the lives of thousands of Cuyahoga County residents.

Since the inception of TalentNEO, we have strengthened our partnership by proctoring the WorkKeys testing at the Ohio Means Jobs Bolivar location and offering KeyTrain upskilling courses at NewBridge Center for Arts and Technology and the Ohio Means Jobs Bolivar and Ohio Means Jobs Brookpark locations. We love to see the positive impact these programs have had on our students. One student we are particularly proud of is Betty S.

Betty had been attending our GED© class at the Maple Heights library for quite some time. Wanting to embark on a new career with her husband, she left her current employment in hopes of attending a CDL program. In lieu of a GED©, the trucking school agreed to accept WorkKeys scale scores of 4 across the board. Betty began using the distance education KeyTrain program in addition to attending the onsite GED© classes, but was unable to achieve higher than a Level 3 in Math. Struggling to attain the needed Level 4, her teacher recommended she attend the upskilling classes at OMJ Brookpark. Betty’s math score showed remarkable improvement after attending the upskilling class. She was able to accomplish the target Level 4 in Math and is looking forward to attending the CDL classes with her husband! WorkKeys and KeyTrain have opened the door to opportunities our students did not think were possible. We are excited to continue our journey with TalentNEO and change the lives of more students like Betty!
