Connecting Employers and Jobseekers Through a Common Language – Skills.

The TalentNEO monthly newsletter!
TalentNEO is growing and progressing every day. In an effort to keep everyone informed and connected, we will be sharing a monthly newsletter. This is the place to find updates about the initiative, learn more about our partners, and get ideas for new ways to expand the initiative.

Partner Spotlight
We will be featuring success stories, lessons learned and updates from our partners each month to share how others are working to expand the initiative. This month we are featuring NewBridge Cleveland Center for Arts and Technology. Here is an update from Bethany Friedlander, Chief Operating Officer:
Since NewBridge’s inception we have had over 3,000 people apply to our three adult training programs; Phlebotomy Technician, Pharmacy Technician and Hospital Nursing Assistant. Prior to 2015 NewBridge used the TABE test as part of our entrance requirements. When prospective students inquired, NewBridge provided them with a practice booklet with some examples of test questions and scheduled them for a paper and pencil test. Only 43% of our applicants ever took the TABE test and our passage rate for the scores assigned to the program was 30%. In 2015, NewBridge jumped at the chance to become a WorkKeys testing site. We hoped that the test would be more approachable and that more prospective students would take and pass the test.  We loved that there was an entire practice test available on the OMJ site so applicants could fully prepare for the test and that there was KeyTrain software for students who needs skills refreshment in order to get to the required scores. We loved that the scores were immediately available and we could schedule interviews on the same day thereby limiting the number of times an applicant had to travel to our site. Since we have become a WorkKeys testing site 93 applicants have taken the test and 60 have gotten the scores necessary for the positions of Phlebotomist, Pharmacy Technician and Hospital Nursing Assistant. Our testing rate is up over 67% and our passage rate has doubled.
WorkKeys has allowed NewBridge to have an even greater pool of applicants who are ready and able to get trained and go to work at our local hospital partners' sites. We are confident that the scores they obtain are directly applicable to the skills and tasks they will be doing on the job. We know that our training leads to employment at, on average, over $27,000 a year with benefits and that these jobs can change lives. Our most recent Phlebotomy class, filled with WorkKeys applicants, completed at 95.5% - our highest completion rate to date. We are excited to continue to work with TalentNEO and WorkKeys.
