I, along with the New Schools for Chicago Board of Directors and Staff, am delighted to announce that New Schools for Chicago will change to Kids First Chicago as of August 2018. We look forward to sharing additional details with you in the upcoming weeks and months, and invite you to explore our history, mission, and updated web tools.
We’re excited to recognize the next era of our work and to build on the foundation that this organization has established as New Schools for Chicago and the Renaissance School Fund. As Kids First Chicago (K1C), we will continue to work so that every family in Chicago has access to a high quality school.
We believe that lasting positive change relies on putting parents at the heart of the conversation and shifting the narrative to focus on school quality. We originally developed Kids First Chicago as a campaign to empower parents with the information to find the best schools for their children and to have a voice in shaping education policy to better serve all of Chicago’s children.
Now Kids First Chicago will be the banner reflecting our full body of work, with families leading the charge on all that we do, from parent support to policy change.
Even more, this shift reflects our continued alignment and recognition of the many individuals, communities, and organizations who stand with us in their commitment to putting the education needs of our city’s children first by improving efficiency across the district, transparency of information, and access to quality schools for all families.
Together, as Kids First Chicago,
we will create a world-class system of schools.
P.S. If you'd like to learn more about our organizational history and evolution, I encourage you to explore kidsfirstchicago.org/history.
