UWA Fencing Club Newsletter, September 2021
Dear UWA Fencing Club Members,
A few more updates and reminders since our July update. Unfortunately, we continue to be affected indirectly by the onging challenges caused by COVID, and we must continue to practice good hygiene practices, and continue to use the COVID safe App or COVID register whenever at the Club.
COVID also continues to impact travel into and out of Western Australia and a number of events including the AFC3 event (due to occur on 27-30 August) and now the Australian Masters Games have had to be postponed.

Coaching Course
We will be holding an accreditted Level 1 epee coaching course for experienced fencers who wish to formalise and refine their coaching skills on 2-3 October. We welcome both trainee coaches as well as 'students' to assist the trainee coaches (which will mean they can also listen and participate in the course and potentially get lots of free lessons!
Talk to coach Scott if you would like to know more about this opportunity.

Competition
UWA Fencing Club is hosting a number of local events coming up. I encourage you to compete, and for those not competing (including parents) to volunteer where they can (we are always pleased to train volunteers in a range of skills to support our fencers). While some national events have not yet been cancelled, it is uncertain at this time as to whether they will go ahead.
