UWA Fencing Club Newsletter, May 2021

Dear UWA Fencing Club Members,

Thank you for your patience while we have experienced several weeks of uncertainty due to the COVID related restrictions.  Congratulations to everyone for weathering restrictions, continuing to participate within the bounds of what was possible, and embracing the challenges with good grace and humour.

A few reminders and notices for the coming period:

Fencing Survey

Researchers at the University of New South Wales have asked us to forward the below invitation to participate in a study on youth fencing on their behalf. Please note that our fencing club is not associated with this study or the research team in any way, and your decision to participate is completely voluntary.

A cross-sectional survey on why young Australians decide to participate in the sport of fencing (Reference no.: HC210216)

Researchers at UNSW are conducting a short survey about why Australian youth decide to participate in fencing. The research project is looking for people who want to take part in this research who:

  • Started fencing in Australia when they were under the age of 18 (you can be any age now).

By taking part you can also choose to go into the draw to win one of eight $25 Leon Paul e-gift vouchers.

Attached is a Participant Information Statement which contains a full description of the research activities.

If you would like to take part in this research, you can do so by selecting the following link: https://unsw.au1.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_0ugZxX4jzLeufD8

Any person under the age of 18 years will need to have a parent/guardian complete the survey on their behalf.

The research team can be contacted at e.ganakas@student.unsw.edu.au if you would like more information about the study.
