UWA Fencing Club Newsletter, December 2020
Happy Christmas to all our members and followers.
Dear UWAFC Members,
I would just like to say a big thank you to all of our volunteers and also recognise the hard work and dedication of our fencers who have made it through a most challenging and disrupted year. As the year draws to a close, we also recognise a number of particular achievements at this time.
Welcome to the newest member of our Fencing Family
Congratulations to Coach Scott and his wife Conor who become parents to Anna Catherine on Thursday 3 December. If you would like to contribute to a gift, please see Sharon Dale or Ben Peden at training.
The FencingWA awards were held on Sunday 6 December. UWA Fencing Club again performed outstandingly. The following were awarded for their performances during the year:
- Alex Buswell (Under 15 Epee Champion);
- George Dale (Under 20 Epee Champion);
- John Downes (Open Epee Champion);
- Pierce Edmonds (Club Volunteer Award);
- UWA Fencing Club (Champion Epee Club);
Well done. You make us all proud.
Our last sessions of the year will be Tuesday 15 December, Thursday 17 December and Saturday 19 December.
We will be recognising more of our fencers and volunteers at our end of year event on Saturday 19 December. I invite the regular Saturday fencers to attend their normal training times, and for all our weekday fencers to attend the 11am session for our end of year wrap up and awards.
New Year 2021
Evening fencing will recommence on Tuesday 5 January at 6:30pm and we will continue fencing as usual on Tuesdays and Thursday evenings.
Our Saturday classes will resume on Saturday 6 February 2021. We will send out more information about times and fees early in the new year.
Please note that with Western Australia opening up to the rest of the country, we must again carefully follow social distancing and contact tracing measures designed to keep us all safe for the foreseeable future.
Please download the app and scan the QR code on the door of the gym upon entering. Alternatively, please fill out your contact details on the form provided and place into the Perspex box. This includes ALL visitors to the Club including parents and guardians.
ALL members must tick off their name on the register mounted on the table upon entering the Club. Please write your name onto the register if you cannot find it already printed.
Our latest equipment order from China has arrived. Please confirm any equipment orders with Ben (firstname.lastname@example.org) or Chris (email@example.com).
Unfortunately it is unlikely that any new orders will make it here in time for Christmas, but please confirm your requirements and if we don’t have it in stock, we will put in a new order to arrive in time for the start of the new term.
Please make any outstanding payments (Equipment and Fees) as follows:
Payment: Please direct fund transfer to our ANZ bank account using the following details:
