Owl Games 2016 a Success Randy Dean Blakely, Ph.D
More than 200 gamers participated in the 2nd Annual “Owl Games” held last Saturday. Registrants played the popular, multiplayer videogame, League of Legends and raised $1,500 for the non-profit organization Canine Companions for Independence. View photos from the event.
Senior Investigator of NIH Speaks on Campus Randy Dean Blakely, Ph.D
Students had an opportunity to hear National Institutes of Health (NIH) Senior Investigator, Chi-Hon Lee, M.D., Ph.D., speak on campus as part of the Center for Molecular Biology and Biotechnology (CMBB) Seminar Series on Feb. 10. Lee discussed the assembly and function of chromatic circuits in a species of flies, along with the mechanisms guiding the development of the visual neurons.
Honors College Student Presents at International Conference Richard Gordon
Honors College senior Lauren Goldsworthy presented at the 18th International Conference on Marine Biology and Ecology (ICMBE) in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. Goldsworthy’s presentation, titled Abundance and Diversity of Crabs and Allies in the Eastern Gulf of Mexico, was based on research she conducted while attending HBOI's Spring 2015 Semester by the Sea program. Honors College Professor Presents Lecture for Jupiter's LLS Randy Dean Blakely, Ph.D
Honors College Associate Professor of Anthropolgy, Jacqueline Fewkes, Ph.D., presented a lecture on the Silk Route as part of Jupiter’s Lifelong Learning winter lecture series. Professor Fewkes discussed the historical narratives regarding the end of the Silk Route based on her research in the Indian Himalayan region of Ladakh. Florida Atlantic University, established in 1961, officially opened its doors in 1964 as the fifth public university in Florida. Today, the University, with an annual economic impact of $6.3 billion, serves more than 30,000 undergraduate and graduate students at sites throughout its six-county service region in southeast Florida. FAU’s John D. MacArthur Campus in Jupiter opened in the fall of 1999.  The campus presently enrolls more than 1,500 students and offers a broad range of upper-division and graduate courses. The campus is home to the Harriet L. Wilkes Honors College, the Lifelong Learning Society, and research facilities of Scripps Florida and the Max Planck Florida Institute.
