Randy Dean Blakely, Ph.D., an internationally renowned neuroscientist with expertise in synaptic molecular biology, neurotransmitter transporters, and human genetics, will join Florida Atlantic University in May 2016 as the founding Executive Director of the newly-formed FAU Brain Institute, with a primary appointment in FAU's Charles E. Schmidt College of Medicine. Read more here.
FAU Jupiter’s Lifelong Learning Society Presents Dr. Bennet Omalu Randy Dean Blakely, Ph.D
"Concussion," a movie starring Will Smith as Omalu, opened Christmas day. FAU Jupiter’s Lifelong Learning Society Jupiter will present a lecture by Dr. Bennet Omalu on Tuesday, Feb. 16 at 7 p.m. in the Lifelong Learning Society complex at FAU’s John D. MacArthur Campus, 5353 Parkside Dr., in Jupiter. Read more here.
Academy for Community Inclusion Welcomes First Class Richard Gordon
The FAU Academy for Community Inclusion (ACI) welcomed its inaugural class on Tues, Jan 12. The ACI is a new higher education program for students with developmental disabilities. The Academy, led by Michael P. Brady, Ph.D., professor and chair of FAU’s Department of Exceptional Student Education, is the first-of-its-kind in Florida and began operation on FAU’s John D. MacArthur Campus in Jupiter. The program is made possible by a generous multi-year commitment from The Taft Foundation designated to provide funding for the program’s development, recruitment and personnel. Read more here.
Richard Gordon donates $200,000 to FAU’s Harriet L. Wilkes Honors College Richard Gordon
Richard Gordon, a longtime benefactor of Florida Atlantic University’s Harriet L. Wilkes Honors College, recently donated $200,000 to his two existing scholarship funds, providing the opportunity for a renewable full-tuition award for selected students. Read more here.
Young Entrepreneurs Academy (YEA!) meets on FAU’s Jupiter Campus Richard Gordon
The Northern Palm Beach County Chamber of Commerce Young Entrepreneurs Academy (YEA!) program meeting every Tuesday on FAU’s Jupiter Campus through March 15. YEA! is a groundbreaking and exciting yearlong class that transforms middle and high school students into real, confident entrepreneurs. Throughout the class, students develop business ideas, write business plans, conduct market research, pitch their plans to a panel of investors, and actually launch and run their own real, legal, fully formed companies and social movements. YEA! Investment Panel Presentation will be on March 10 from 6 - 8 p.m. at FAU Jupiter's LLS Auditorium. Attendance is open to the public. Read more here.

FAU Jupiter will host its 2nd Annual “Owl Games” fundraising event on Feb. 6. from 9 a.m. - 6 p.m. Registered gamers will compete in the popular, multiplayer videogame, League of Legends, to benefit the non-profit organization Canine Companions for Independence (CCI). Read more here.
Florida Atlantic University, established in 1961, officially opened its doors in 1964 as the fifth public university in Florida. Today, the University, with an annual economic impact of $6.3 billion, serves more than 30,000 undergraduate and graduate students at sites throughout its six-county service region in southeast Florida. FAU’s John D. MacArthur Campus in Jupiter opened in the fall of 1999.  The campus presently enrolls more than 1,500 students and offers a broad range of upper-division and graduate courses. The campus is home to the Harriet L. Wilkes Honors College, the Lifelong Learning Society's auditorium, and research facilities of Scripps Florida and the Max Planck Florida Institute.
