Palm Beach North Chamber of Commerce's YEA! Held Investment Panel Presentations at FAU Jupiter Richard Gordon
Young Entrepreneurs Academy (YEA!), a program of the Palm Beach North Chamber of Commerce, held their Investment Panel Presentations on March 14 at FAU Jupiter's LLS Auditorium. This event showcased 10-startup businesses the YEA! class of 2016-2017 has been working on since October. Students took the stage in a "shark tank" style format, and pitched their businesses to a group of local business leaders and owners in the community, known as the 'Investor Panel' to compete for real start-up capital to launch their businesses.

Each business was awarded various amounts of startup funding. Students Kennedi English & Adam Herold claimed the additional honor of being selected as the YEA! Saunders Semi-Finalist from the Palm Beach North region. Their business, “Kickstartists,” will move onto YEA!'s regional competition for a chance to compete in the final round of the Saunders Scholars Competition, hosted in Washington, D.C. at America's Small Business Summit.

Florida Atlantic University, established in 1961, officially opened its doors in 1964 as the fifth public university in Florida. Today, the University, with an annual economic impact of $6.3 billion, serves more than 30,000 undergraduate and graduate students at sites throughout its six-county service region in southeast Florida. FAU’s John D. MacArthur Campus in Jupiter presently enrolls more than 1,500 students and offers a broad range of upper-division and graduate courses. The campus houses the Harriet L. Wilkes Honors College and the nation’s largest Lifelong Learning Society. The Jupiter Life Science Initiative unites scientists and students in research and training programs and leverages FAU’s close affiliations with Scripps Florida and the Max Planck Florida Institute, which are also located on the campus. As part of this effort, the university-wide Brain Institute launched on the campus in 2016 and is a hub of cutting-edge, multidisciplinary neuroscience activity that builds on existing neuroscience centers and programs within FAU. The Center for Molecular Biology and Biotechnology offers research and training programs in molecular biology and biotechnology and serves as a link between FAU and other institutions and industries in this field.
