Palm Beach North Chamber Hosts CEO Roundtable Panel for YEA! Students at FAU Jupiter Richard Gordon
The Palm Beach North Chamber of Commerce Foundation’s Young Entrepreneur’s Academy (YEA!) class of 2016-2017 attended a CEO round table panel featuring Daniel Cane, ceo and co-founder of Modernizing Medicine, and Sheila Mains, ceo and founder of Brownie Brittle, LLS. Cane and Mains shared their individual stories of how they became CEOs to the audience. The YEA! students then had the opportunity to interact and ask questions to the business leaders after their speeches. The event was broadcast live by FAU Jupiter and can be viewed Here.
NeuroPharmalogics Experiencing Many Successes Richard Gordon
FAU Tech Runway company NeuroPharmologics, Inc., was featured in the latest edition of a respected industry trade publication BioCentury Innovations for their research on orphan neurological diseases. The start-up also recently finished in the top three of BioFlorida's BioPitch Statewide Competition and entered into a new research agreement. Read More.
Jupiter’s LLS Provides Internships for FAU’s ACI Students Richard Gordon
Florida Atlantic University’s Jupiter Lifelong Learning Society (LLS) has announced a partnership with FAU’s Academy for Community Inclusion students to provide students with internship opportunities. The Academy is designed to offer students with intellectual and developmental disabilities who have completed high school various opportunities to earn certificates in “Supported Employment Skills,” “Supported Community Access,” and “Supported Living Skills.” Read More.
2017 Orientation and Welcome Leaders (OWLs) Attends Retreat Richard Gordon
Orientation and welcome leaders (OWLs) are students who volunteer to serve as mentors to incoming Honors College students and their families. These student leaders guide their peers during their first two-weeks on the Jupiter Campus. This year’s OWLS completed their annual all-day retreat to prepare them for their responsibilities and to learn to work as a team. At the retreat they completed a leadership challenge, learned customer service skills, communication and the Appreciative Inquiry Model.
Commissioner Ed Davis, who handled the aftermath of the 2013 Boston Marathon bombings, spoke at Jupiter’s LLS Richard Gordon
Commissioner Ed Davis and John Ortiz Smykla, Ph.D., director of the the School of Criminology and Criminal Justice spoke at Jupiter’s Lifelong Learning Society on February 2. Davis was at the forefront of the emergency response to the 2013 Boston Marathon Bombing and is depicted by John Goodman in the film “Patriots Day.” The lecture was a first-hand account of the Boston Marathon Bombings and the manhunt to find the terrorists who planned the attacks. The event was well attended and received by audience members.
Brain Institute Launches Faculty Awards Richard Gordon
The Brain Institute announces its inaugural Faculty Travel Award to enhance the visibility and scientific networking of its members by defraying costs associated with attendance at scientific meetings or research conferences.

Approximately $10,000 is available to reimburse up to $1,500 in costs associated with meeting registration, lodging and travel. The funds will be available until January 31, 2018 or until all funds have been committed. Read More.


Florida Atlantic University’s John D. MacArthur Campus in Jupiter presently enrolls more than 1,500 students and offers a broad range of upper-division and graduate courses. The campus houses the Harriet L. Wilkes Honors College and the nation’s largest Lifelong Learning Society. Both the FAU Brain Institute and the FAU Center for Molecular Biology and Biotechnology call the MacArthur campus home, providing cutting edge research infrastructure and educational programs that link to other FAU campuses. The Jupiter Life Science Initiative serves to unite scientists and students in campus research and training activities, and helps sustain FAU’s close affiliations with Scripps Florida and the Max Planck Florida Institute, which are also located on the campus.
