Representatives from Three South Florida School Districts Meet at FAU Jupiter Richard Gordon
Educational leaders from three South Florida school districts met with faculty from the Department of Educational Leadership and Research Methodology (EDLRM) School Leaders Program on the FAU Jupiter Campus on April 1. The purpose of the meeting was to share challenges and initiatives in the area of leadership development, as well as to finalize program partnerships with FAU. In attendance from left to right are: Enrique Vela, director of Professional Growth in the Palm Beach County School District, Eric Lundman, assistant superintendent in the Palm Beach County School District, Robert Shockley, chair of EDLRM at FAU, Veda Hudge, director of Professional Growth in the Broward County School District, Fabian Cone, director of School Performance and Accountability in the Broward County School District, Denise Rodriguez, director of Leadership Development in the St. Lucie County School District, John Hardman, faculty, EDLRM at FAU, Daniel Reyes-Guerra, faculty, EDLRM at FAU, Ted Toomer, chief talent officer designee in the Broward County School District
FAU Jupiter's Lifelong Learning Society Makes the Front Page of The Palm Beach Post Richard Gordon
The Palm Beach Post wrote an article on FAU Jupiter’s LLS on April 3. The article went into depth about the program’s history, testimonials from members and cited that it boasts 28,000 registrations a year for its courses. Among those, it counts 8,000 members who pay $45 in order to take classes at a discount, register early and online and get deals on the program’s esteemed lecture series. Read More
FAU’s Student Government Hosted 4th Annual TEDxFAUJupiter Randy Dean Blakely, Ph.D
On Mar 31, FAU’s Student Government hosted “Innovate and Lead,” the 4th Annual TEDxFAUJupiter event. Speaker topics ranged from Gandhi to sustainable economic systems. The event showcased 12 FAU students, faculty and staff and was attended by over 120 people. The TEDx Program is designed to help communities, organizations and individuals to spark conversation and connection through local TED-like experiences. Read more.
Florida Atlantic University, established in 1961, officially opened its doors in 1964 as the fifth public university in Florida. Today, the University, with an annual economic impact of $6.3 billion, serves more than 30,000 undergraduate and graduate students at sites throughout its six-county service region in southeast Florida. FAU’s John D. MacArthur Campus in Jupiter opened in the fall of 1999.  The campus presently enrolls more than 1,500 students and offers a broad range of upper-division and graduate courses. The campus is home to the Harriet L. Wilkes Honors College, the Lifelong Learning Society, and research facilities of Scripps Florida and the Max Planck Florida Institute.
