Jupiter Students Attend FAU Day at the Capitol Richard Gordon
FAU Day at the Capitol is an annual event held in Tallahassee where students and staff meet with members of FAU’s delegation, members of the legislative leadership and committee leadership. The day included a breakfast, lunch, Senate and House Chamber tour and a reception. President Kelly addressed the group at breakfast along with Florida's Chief Financial Officer and soon-to-be FAU’s CFO, Jeff Atwater. In addition, students had the opportunity to hear from the Chancellor of the State University System, Marshall McAllister Criser, at lunch. Jupiter was one of the top priorities on FAU’s legislative agenda. The following Wilkes Honors College students represented the Jupiter campus: Micael Idani, Darren Turner, Stacy Cabral and Clayton Simms.
Academy for Community Inclusion Hosts Open House Richard Gordon
The Academy for Community Inclusion (ACI) hosted a well-attended Spring Open House. The event was designed to showcase the program and review admission and application requirements. Four ACI students shared their personal experiences at the college and led guided tours of the campus for the attendees. More information and applications for ACI can be found Here.
Honors College Student Volunteers for El Sol Richard Gordon
Tesha Joseph is a committed volunteer for El Sol, Jupiter’s Neighborhood Resource Center, where she helps maintain their organic community garden and volunteers at their Jupiter Farmers Market. Joseph, who is Haitian-American, is a political science major at the Wilkes Honors College.

“Tesha’s first-hand understanding of the immigrant experience in South Florida fuels both her drive to succeed as a student at the Wilkes Honors College and her desire to give back to the community,” said Timothy Steigenga, Ph.D., professor of political science and chair of the social sciences and humanities at the Wilkes Honors College.

Joseph received of the Honors College's Community Engagement Scholarship for demonstrating academic excellence and commitment to serving non-profit and community organizations like El Sol.

FAU MacArthur Campus named a 2016 Tree Campus USA Richard Gordon
For the seventh consecutive year, FAU's John D. MacArthur campus is named a Tree Campus USA by the Arbor Day Foundation. Tree Campus USA is a designation that honors towns, cities, colleges, universities and their leaders for promoting healthy urban forest management and engaging their communities in environmental stewardship. The campus is home to the Robert J. Huckshorn Arboretum, named in honor of the University’s vice president emeritus. The arboretum is planted with Florida native plants, including typical species found in pine flatwoods, tropical hardwood hammocks, mixed hardwood swamps and oak hammock. The Jupiter campus will celebrate this honor on Arbor Day, April 28, in the Huckshorn Arboretum. Learn more.
Florida Atlantic University’s John D. MacArthur Campus in Jupiter presently enrolls more than 1,500 students and offers a broad range of upper-division and graduate courses. The campus houses the Harriet L. Wilkes Honors College and the nation’s largest Lifelong Learning Society. Both the FAU Brain Institute and the FAU Center for Molecular Biology and Biotechnology call the MacArthur campus home, providing cutting edge research infrastructure and educational programs that link to other FAU campuses. The Jupiter Life Science Initiative serves to unite scientists and students in campus research and training activities, and helps sustain FAU’s close affiliations with Scripps Florida and the Max Planck Florida Institute, which are also located on the campus.
