Randy D. Blakely, Ph. D., Executive Director of FAU’s Brain Institute, Speaks at College of Medicine Richard Gordon
Randy D. Blakely, Ph. D., the new executive director of FAU’s Brain Institute and professor of Biomedical Science at the College of Medicine spoke at the College of Medicine as part of their Distinguished Lecture Series. A reception was held prior to Blakely’s lecture titled, “Rare Opportunities for Progress in ADHD Neurobiology: A Tale of Leaky Dopamine Synapses."
Northern Palm Beach County Chamber of Commerce's YEA! Held Investment Panel Presentations at FAU Jupiter Randy Dean Blakely, Ph.D
Young Entrepreneurs Academy (YEA!), a program of the Northern Palm Beach County Chamber of Commerce, held their Investment Panel Presentations on March 10 at FAU Jupiter's LLS Auditorium. Two dozen students from grades 7-12 pitched business start-up ideas to an eight-person panel of local business people, who divided up $10,000 in awards. Sophia DeRosa, 16, from The Benjamin School was choosen to advance to the YEA regional competition. Her business, Beat the Stigma, will be an on-line learning center for teenagers. Over the past 10 weeks FAU Jupiter has been hosting the program on campus that helps students develop business ideas. Read More.

Harriet L. Wilkes Honors College of FAU students were invited guests to Enterprise Florida, Inc.’s Team Florida Dinner to represent Florida’s young talent. Florida Atlantic University, established in 1961, officially opened its doors in 1964 as the fifth public university in Florida. Today, the University, with an annual economic impact of $6.3 billion, serves more than 30,000 undergraduate and graduate students at sites throughout its six-county service region in southeast Florida. FAU’s John D. MacArthur Campus in Jupiter opened in the fall of 1999.  The campus presently enrolls more than 1,500 students and offers a broad range of upper-division and graduate courses. The campus is home to the Harriet L. Wilkes Honors College, the Lifelong Learning Society, and research facilities of Scripps Florida and the Max Planck Florida Institute.
