Urban Financing Partnership Facility holds annual consultation meeting

Representatives from Trust Funds under the Urban Financing Partnership Facility (UFPF) on 24 November gathered at the 2020 virtual annual consultation meeting. This meeting served as a venue to review the overall achievements of the UFPF Trust Funds; review the key points discussed during the bilateral meetings of the UFPF Trust Funds; and discuss the future directions of the UFPF particularly on how the Trust Funds can work as One UFPF to complement and support ADB operations and cities.

CALL FOR EOIs: Technology Innovation Challenge (TIC) for urban development

The Technology Innovation Challenge for Urban Development will accept Expressions of Interest (EOIs) until 4 December 2020, 12 nn (Manila time). Maximum of two grants will be awarded (up to $500,000 each) to proposals that can help promote safe and inclusive cities. Proposals should pilot either data-informed tools or promote efficient wastewater treatment and sanitation. Visit the EOI platform

Joint Urban SG and Soc Dev TG Disability Inclusion workshop

Urban SG and Social Development TG will hold a Disability Inclusion Workshop to increase the awareness and knowledge of ADB staff on disability inclusion. CBM, together with representatives from Organizations of Persons with Disabilities, will facilitate the workshop. Staff involved in livable cities projects are encouraged to join. Register here

The Asia Smart City Conference (ASCC) is an international conference that brings together representatives from Asian cities, national governments, international organizations, academic institutions, and private companies, aiming at establishing a knowledge hub for Smart Cities. Korean national drive for green and smart urbanization

Urban Climate Change Resilience Trust Fund consultant Okju Jeong talked about some government-driven milestones, including Comprehensive National Territorial Plans, Low Carbon Green City Initiative, and Cyber Korea 21. Millions of households fail to benefit from sanitation investments because not enough sewerage infrastructure connects directly to households, according to a World Bank report released today on World Toilet Day under the auspices of the Bank’s Citywide Inclusive Sanitation (CWIS) initiative.
