Wearables
Companions in all aspects of life
For this newsletter´s topic we welcome guest author Ulrike Haltrich, from the very first IEC Systems Committee established – "Active Assisted Living".
She´s been the Chairperson of this Systems Committee for more than a year, motivating the experts and successfully driving the committee. In parallel she is responsible for several projects in the IEC Committee related to audiovisual and multimedia systems and equipment - IEC/TC 100 .
In our article she writes about wearable smart devices and her personal experience with these companions. Do they support us in organizing our daily life, raising efficiency of physical exercises and tracking personal entertainment preferences? Or do they possibly spy on us?
Nevertheless, these smart wearable gadgets can be a vital part of our life, supporting Active Assisted Living, Smart Home and maybe even Health Care Applications.
One disclaimer needs to be set: Ulrike is working for Sony in her regular business life, and this is a well-established manufacturer of ICT (Information and Communicaction Technology) in the area of entertainment electronics.
But it seems, she is an early adopter of wearables – let´s learn about her impressions!
