Children's Village Donation

Through the Hartford Hope Foundation, The Children’s Village was selected as one of this year’s beneficiaries to receive a $10,000 gift in the form of new playground equipment for the kids they serve year-round. Members of the Coeur Group will build and install the new playground equipment this fall with the help of Clearwater Summit Group.

The Hartford Hope Foundation was formed in 2012 as a family foundation by Doris Hartford.  Mrs. Hartford and her husband were both attorneys who amassed a large estate during their lives.  They had no children but Mrs. Hartford’s twin sister, Dorothy, had six children who Mrs. Hartford treated as her own.  Dorothy passed away at the age of 100 and Mrs. Hartford lived to 101.  Before her death, Mrs. Hartford decided to form a foundation in which Dorothy’s 6 children would be able to donate a portion of her wealth each year to a charity of their choice.  Each year, the families choose six charities, one from each family and this year, our family has chosen The Children’s Village.  The Children’s Village was brought to our attention by Brent Schreiber, one of Dorothy’s great grandchildren and a Coeur Group member.  We took a tour The Children’s Village and thought it was a treasure of a place for kids needing a place to call home.  We are very excited to be able to partner with the Coeur Group and provide the funding to construct new playground equipment for the kids to enjoy for years to come.

On a daily basis, Children’s Village can serve up to 24 residents, providing shelter and care for children who have been abused, neglected or are experiencing a family crisis. This also includes a crisis nursery for infants and toddlers, meals prepared by a trained food manager, customized shelter and residential plans, transportation to any medical appointment, clothing and personal hygiene items, activities designed to build self-confidence, educational and entertainment outings, as well as tutoring and resident mentors for each child.

The new playground equipment will be able to benefit all of the residents of the Children’s Village by replacing the outdated equipment not designed for larger scale use. “From the moment the Coeur Group saw our need to replace our outdoor play structure, they made it their mission to make it happen.  We couldn’t be happier they stepped up and made this dream come true for our children!” Janet Davis, Children’s Village Executive Director.

MEMBER SPOTLIGHT:
Jeremy Voeller

What is your current job and tell us a little about what you do?
I currently am project manager for several land development and multi-family projects that we have going in the CDA area. My responsibilities involve working on every aspect of these projects from start to finish.

How long have you been a member of The Coeur Group and what is your best experience so far?
I have been with the Couer group for around four years now. My best experience so far has been getting to know the guys and building those relationships.

What's your favorite moment of your career to this point?
Just the excitement of seeing deals come together. I would say personally it has been with projects that my wife and I have done.

What do you enjoy doing in your spare time?
Spending time with my two boys and just hanging out with my wife. Her and I both love looking at real estate and we tend to have good quality time together when we do that. Cooking, traveling, and golfing are all enjoyable for me but finding time to do them can be difficult.

Why would you recommend The Coeur Group to a colleague?
It's the people that are involved that make this a great group to be a part of. Even though we do great projects and give back to the community, its the members that make it happen. The relationship building is the best part.
