RDWA Board Vacancies - Last day to apply

The RDWA is calling for nominations for five vacant positions on the Board.

We are seeking nominations from people with a commitment to the charter, values and principles of the RDWA, and a willingness and capacity to contribute to the principles of sound governance of our organisation.

Applications close today, Wednesday 17 August 2016 at 5.00pm.

Register now for RESP - Kadina 9-10 September | Angaston 21-22 October

The RDWA is pleased to host the upcoming Rural Emergency Skills Program (RESP) workshops in Kadina and Angaston being held on the Friday evening and all day Saturday. Please note just the one place remains for Kadina on Friday 9 and Saturday 10 September 2016.

GPs interested in attending either workshop should visit RESP for further information on the program and application details.

ENT for GPs - Flinders and Far North
Wednesday 24 August 6.00 for 6.30pm start, Standpipe Golf Motor Inn, Port Augusta

Please join us at the Standpipe Hotel for a talk with Dr John-Charles Hodge, ENT. Dr Hodge will be delivering a talk addressing the medical management of ENT conditions, including the removal of nasal foreign bodies and will show how to perform nasal cauterisation for epistaxis.

For non-members, registrations for this event will be $35.00 to be paid on registration. This fee will include a main course meal, with beverages available for purchase. Dermatology Update - Barossa

Following on from the excellent feedback by attendees at his talk in Port Lincoln, we have invited Dr Simon Khoury, Consultant Dermatologist FMC and QEH, to present to doctors in the Barossa. This update will assist GPs to improve knowledge on best practice protocols and management plans for common dermatoses, increase knowledge of common dermatoses with atypical presentations and increase awareness of uncommon dermatoses. Assisting Dr Khoury will be Dr Lachlan Warren from Dermatology SA.

RACGP Practice Based Assessment Pathway (Pilot) - Applications now open

The RDWA advises that the RACGP will be launching its Practice Based Assessment Pathway as a pilot program for 2017. The new pathway replaces the former Practice Based Assessment (PBA) and has been developed in response to a comprehensive review and consultation process.

Applications for 2017 are now open and interested candidates can begin the application process by accessing the Eligibility Self-Assessment tool directly on the RACGP website. Further information, including Frequently Asked Questions, can also be found on the website.

Contact the RACGP directly on 1800 472 247 (8.00am to 8.00pm AEST) for further information regarding the Practice Based Assessment Pathway.

Workshop for Health Workers in Riverland - Changes in Sexual Health

Presented by Dr Amy Moten from SHine SA, a half day sexual health workshop will be held on Tuesday 6 September 2016 at RDGP, 3 Riverview Drive, Berri.

Topics covered will include changes to cervical screening guidelines, updates on emergency contraception, the latest STI statistics, and an overview on long acting reversible contraceptives and non-occupational post-exposure prophylaxis (nPEP) for HIV.

Implanon insertion training is available as an add-on option for GPs (limited spaces available).
