Spiritual Cleansing

Linda Williamson, Board Secretary

In a recent Sunday message Reverend Jyoti talked about spiritual independence. So I thought I would start with a spiritual cleanse. Clear out the emotional cobwebs – judgement, criticism, self-criticism, regret, (you get the picture) and pray my way into a quiet, tranquil place with a clear and open heart. I do acknowledge that I have allowed some unsavory thoughts and feelings in, from time to time, that are not of the highest vibration, some intentional, some unintentional. Inner toxicity. Yuck. Oh, my!  I want to clear it away and I have a feeling it’s going be hard work. ...

Practitioner's Corner

Creating Healthy Relationships

Jim Babcock, RScP

Are your relationships as rich and rewarding as you would like them to be? How about your relationship with your mother or father, brother or sister, son or daughter, or maybe yourself? We live in a world where relationships can be complicated and we can shift that belief.

I became a mentor for another practitioner last year at Mile Hi Church and started to notice how deep a relationship could be if we enter the relationship as equal partners. My belief when this relationship started was that we both had something equally as important to bring to the relationship that would help us both grow...

Spiritual Growth in Baha’i

Thursday, July 19
7:00 - 8:30 pm

The Baha’i Faith was founded by Baha’u’llah in 1863 and has ~7 million members. Following a brief introduction to the history and organization of the Baha’i Faith, we will explore its key teachings regarding the spiritual growth of the individual. How do Baha’is view prayer, meditation, and regular reading of Sacred Scriptures? What about the practice of fasting? Does being of service to others and performing work in the spirit of service promote spiritual growth?  We will also explore the interplay of individual spiritual growth and active participation in the local and global community.

A Precious Child – Fill a Backpack

A Precious Child is devoted to making a positive impact in the lives of disadvantaged and displaced children and families in Colorado by improving their quality of life. Over 180,000 children are living in poverty according to the Colorado Kids Count Report. Children living in poverty lack the basic essentials critical to academic achievement. Ensuring that children have the necessary supplies to participate in school can reduce truancy, promote learning and build positive self-esteem. The goal for 2018 is to provide more than 14,000 backpacks filled with supplies to children in need.

We have a Lending Library!

Use it to expand your spiritual reading resources

The Center’s lending library has been blessed by the many wonderful book, CD, and DVD donations we have received, and are still receiving, from the congregation. We are grateful both for your donations and to be able to serve as a source of spiritual wisdom for those who wish to borrow from our shelves.

Borrowing Books
We do have a process in place for working the shelves: There are two bins on the shelf for books. One is marked “Donations,” the other is marked “Returns” as shown in the picture to the left. We use the honor system for people to check out books. For this, we have a check-out sheet, attached to a cardboard “clipboard,” for borrowers to fill out when they borrow a book and again when they return it. This clipboard rests between the plastic bins. When books are returned, we ask that they are placed in the bin labeled “Returns.” Linda Carlson, the Lending Library Librarian, will return the books to the shelves, to ensure that they are correctly alphabetized. Books are shelved alphabetically by author’s last name, then alphabetically by title, if we have more than one book by the same author. We have two alphabetical lists, one for books and one for audio resources. These lists are stapled together separately and kept on the shelf with the clipboard. These can be perused by borrowers if they want to quickly see if we have a specific book or audio resource.

Donating Books
When books/media are donated, we ask that they be placed in the bin marked “Donations.” Linda will process the donations and shelf them.

Love and Light from Linda the Lending Library Librarian!
