From the Board

By Linda Williamson, Board Secretary

In this juicy Colorado Front Range month of May, I trust that you’ve noticed the power in ‘your’ tree leafing out, and can identify this same power in you. Here we are in the wonderful arms of this beautiful Mother Earth.

For this message, I confess I found another’s words in a 2014 Huffington Post blog that are wonderful and absolutely appropriate, so I chose to share although the May calendar’s holiday is past. I love that Dr. Jones uses the plural ‘mothers’ rather than the possessive.

The Metaphysics of Mothers Day
By Dennis Merritt Jones

“God couldn’t be everywhere, so he created mothers.” — Jewish Proverb

While we know that in truth the Infinite One IS indeed everywhere because It is Omnipresence, I have always appreciated the folk wisdom and metaphor as quoted above because it depicts the ineffable character of the Divine Feminine, which is omnipresent, nurturing and sustaining all living things while excluding none ... Read Linda's and Dr. Jones' full article

Practitioner's Corner

By Laurie Lee, RScP

It's been an interesting few months for me with having a concussion while so many things are going on in my life. Synchronicity always seems to occur in my life, as I had been reading "The Art of Spiritual Healing" by Joel Goldsmith. I love his work and especially the passage  "Spiritual healing is much more than a purely physical or even mental experience: Healing is finding an inner communion with something greater, far greater than anything in the world; it is finding ourselves in God, finding ourselves in a spiritual peace, an inner peace, an Inner Glow, all of which comes to us with the realization of God within us, the presence and power of God felt."

Affirmation
Today I let go of limiting the Divine. I choose words, feelings and actions that speak the truth of my vision for my life, and look forward with eager expectancy to the results.   ~~~Rev. Angelica Jayne Taggart

'The Source Within'

The universal or macro level of totality is ever-expansive and eternal, encompassing all, from the cosmos to all living beings to the tiniest particle. The reality in which we find ourselves tends to be relative or subjective, a micro view of totality. This presentation takes us on a mystical journey from the macro to the micro, revealing a subtle yet highly impactful truth about ourselves: that the source of all is within us as us. It distills a reality that has the power to alter the way we experience ourselves, others, and the world in which we live. Experiential understanding of the Source Within leads us to the realization that we already are that which we seek. It allows us to better support and heal the parts of ourselves that still contract in pain, fear, grief, sadness, uncertainty, or disillusion. It ends the perpetual story that “something is wrong” with ourselves, others, or life. Understanding the Source Within ushers us into a loving, joyful, powerful and peaceful world inside and outside.

Inspirational Movie Night

'Smoke Signals'

Wednesday, June 13

6:30 pm

Affinity Theater
860 Baseline Road
Lafayette
(across from King Soopers)

'Smoke Signals' gives us storytelling, music, a rough father-son relationship, another with no father at all, an unusual road trip, John Wayne’s teeth and reconciliation and forgiveness. Smoke Signals is a Canadian-American independent film released in 1998, from a screenplay by Sherman Alexie, based on the short story "This is What it Means to Say Phoenix, Arizona" from his book The Lone Ranger and Tonto Fistfight in Heaven (1993).

Peter Stack of the San Francisco Chronicle gave the film a rave review, calling it, "unpretentious, funny and soulful [...] Well-acted, well-written, with spare, beautiful imagery." Kevin Thomas of the Los Angeles Times described Smoke Signals as "a warm film of friendship and reconciliation, and whenever it refers to historic injustices or contemporary issues in Native American culture, it does so with wry, glancing humor. Smoke Signals is indeed poignant, but above all it's pretty funny."

Come and enjoy popcorn and inspiration.

Location: The theatre at Affinity Living Community: 860 Baseline Rd - across from King Soopers on Route 7 at Highway 287.  Call Pat Brazee at 303-880-9896 if the door is locked.
