Message from the Chair
Dear families, students, and educators,
As this year comes to a close, the ESGV SELPA CAC hopes that you take out time to do activities with your families. Remember spending time with your loved ones is a form of self-care. Please check out our Family Activity Section below.
The ESGV SELPA CAC has the following updates:
Highlights of our December Business Meeting
At our December Business Meeting, Danielle Walker presented about the specialized services offered by Bonita USD. The parent Partnership Academy will take place on February 10th from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Bonita USD has also been providing staff trainings on Behavior, Assistive Technology, Crisis Prevention, and Inclusion Trainings.
Highlights of our November Training and December Virtual Game Night 2021:
We would like to take this time to thank all the panelists who presented at the Collaboration in Special Education Partnerships. The families and educators enjoyed learning how to collaborate together. We learned firsthand the importance of collaboration from a former Claremont High School student who has a disability. This previous student spoke about their challenges and how she overcame them. She now serves on the San Gabriel Pomona Regional Center Board. If you were unable to attend the training in November, you are able to view it by clicking here.
We would like to take this time to thank our MC Jonathan Raymond from Charter Oak Unified School District Special Education Department for assisting with hosting the Virtual Game Night event for our families and educators. Our next Game Night will be in February 2022. Be on the lookout for further information.
A Big Thank You to Our Teacher Incentive winners for November and December 2021:
1) Ms. Julie Villanueva, Claremont Unified School District
2) Mr. Adam Wong, Claremont Unified School District
3) Ms. Luz Stell, Walnut Valley Unified School District
1) Randy Dingwall, Claremont Unified School District
2) Ms. Cabrera, Covina Valley Unified School District

Ornaments Sent To The Capitol
This is the second year the CAC has participated in sending ornaments for the Tree Lighting Ceremony in Sacramento, California. The ornaments displayed on the tree are unique because they are created by families and those who have developmental disabilities. We extend our gratitude to Mrs. Rebecca Gonzalez who is a Parent Representative for Glendora Unified School District and Mrs. Kristy Reil who is a Parent Representative for West Covina Unified School District. Both representatives created ornaments for the 90th Tree Lighting Ceremony. Mrs. Gonzalez created an ornament using the SELPA Logo that was created by a student with Autism and Mrs. Reil created an inclusive ornament with children playing together. Be sure to click the image on the left to see the ornament in full view. Thank you CAC Members for your contributions!

Our next Parent Training will be in February 2022. The California Autism Professional Training And Information Network (CAPTAIN) will cover supporting executive functioning skills. More information to follow in the new year. We look forward to seeing you there via Zoom.
