LOUGHTON: Man bailed after arrest on suspicion of murder "released under investigation"

A 61-year-old man who was arrested on suspicion of murder following the death of a woman who died following a collision with a car in Loughton has been released from his bail under investigation.

The man answered his bail yesterday (Friday).

Karen Bailey, 53, was injured in Grosvenor Drive, near the entrance to Davenant Foundation School, shortly before 12.15am on Friday, August 20. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

A 61 year-old man, from Loughton, was arrested on suspicion of murder in the early hours of the same day.

A statement issued to Everything Epping Forest by Essex Police this morning (Saturday) stated: "A 61-year-old man from Loughton has been released under investigation."
12.48pm - September 21

LOUGHTON: Police name victim

A woman who died following a collision with a car in Loughton last month has been named by police as 53-year-old Karen Bailey.

She was injured in Grosvenor Drive - near the entrance to Davenant Foundation School - shortly before 12.15am on Friday, August 20.

She was pronounced dead at the scene.

A 61-year-old man, from Loughton, was arrested on suspicion of murder in the early hours of the same day.

He is currently on bail until November 12.
7.58pm - September 16

LOUGHTON: Man rebailed until November

A man arrested on suspicion of murder following the death of a woman who died following reports that she had been in collision with a vehicle in Grosvenor Drive, Loughton, has been rebailed until November.

The 61-year-old man, who was initially bailed until today (Thursday), has now been rebailed until November 12, a police spokesman told Everything Epping Forest this evening.

The woman, aged in her 50s, was pronounced dead at the scene - close to Davenant Foundation School - following the reported collision which happened shortly before 12.15am on Friday, August 20.

LOUGHTON: Man released on bail until next month

​The 61-year-old Loughton man​ ​​arrested on suspicion of murder following the death of a woman​, aged in her 50s,​ ​following reports that she had been in collision with a vehicle in Grosvenor Drive, ​Loughton​, early on Friday morning​ has been released on bail​ until September 16​, police said this evening.

LOUGHTON: Man remains in police custody

A 61-year-old man arrested on suspicion of murder following the death of a woman, aged in her 50s, who was reported to have been in collision with a vehicle in Grosvenor Drive, Loughton, early on Friday morning remained in police custody this morning where he was being interviewed, police have told Everything Epping Forest.

LOUGHTON: Highways maintenance vehicle examined as part of murder investigation

Police have confirmed to Everything Epping Forest that a highways maintenance vehicle which was examined by police forensics officers in Marlescroft Way, Loughton, this morning is being linked to the ongoing Grosvenor Drive murder investigation where a woman died after reports she had been in collision with a vehicle.

LOUGHTON: Police launch murder investigation

A man has been arrested on suspicion of murder following the death of a woman, aged in her 50s, in Loughton.

Police were called to Grosvenor Drive shorty before 12.15am today (Friday) to reports a woman had been in collision with a vehicle.

She was pronounced dead at the scene.

An area of the road has been cordoned off while investigations continue.

A 61 year-old man, from Loughton, was arrested in the early hours of this morning on suspicion of murder and is currently in custody.

Detective Chief Inspector Scott Egerton, from the Kent and Essex Serious Crime Directorate, said: “I know this will be a concerning incident for people living in and around this part of Loughton but we do not believe there is a wider risk to the public.

“We are making enquiries to establish the circumstances around this incident but at this stage we believe all those involved know each other and we’re not looking for anyone else.

“There is likely to be a police presence in the area for much of today while we investigate.

“I need anyone who saw anything, has CCTV, dash cam or doorbell footage to contact us.”
