Rise on the Run is expanding into the Hightstown Public Library!
Rise on the Run, a program of the Rise Pantry, has been experiencing great success in Hightstown High School since it's inception, and now we're expanding the program into our local Hightstown Library!  Rise on the Run was created to bring healthy snacks into places where local youth might need a little pick-me-up after school hours to help them be successful in their sports, studies, and more.  This ensures that children of families from all income levels have the fuel they need to power them through their days.  If you would like to help us with the continued success of the Rise on the Run program, please consider donating healthy snacks by bringing them to the Rise Thrift Store during business hours and letting our staff know that they are for Rise on the Run!
Celebrate Read Across America Day with Rise Thrift Store!

Each year, National Read Across America Day is celebrated on March 2nd, the birthday of Dr. Seuss. The National Education Association created the annual event to encourage children to read. On Thursday, March 2nd, Rise Thrift Store is hosting a special free book giveaway to celebrate!  Stop by our shop and pick up a book for your child to read or that you'd like to read to them!  Other ways to celebrate might be joining your public library, re-reading an old book you've read before, or sharing an interesting book with a friend!  Don't forget to tag Rise Thrift on social media and use the hashtags #readacrossamericaday #drseussday

We're Hiring at Rise Thrift Store!
We're hiring an Assistant Store Manager at our Rise Thrift Store!  The Assistant Store Manager position can be either full-time or part-time, whatever your schedule allows!  Retail management experience preferred, or experience working in a consignment shop.  If you have a love of thrifting, a friendly personality, enjoy giving back to your community, and want to work in a beautifully renovated space in the heart of downtown Hightstown... click here to learn more and to apply, or share this opportunity with someone you know who might be a perfect fit!
Rutgers Workshop - Nutrition for Colorectal Health
Join the Rutgers Cancer Institute and uRise as we discuss the nutrition tips and lifestyle habits that can lower your risk for colorectal cancer.  Colorectal cancer is the third most common type of cancer in both men and women and is the second leading cause of cancer death after lung cancer. Many colorectal cancers can be prevented through regular screening. Screening can find precancerous polyp abnormal growths in the colon or rectum so they can be removed before becoming cancer. Several screening tests have been developed to help doctors find colorectal cancer early, when it may be more treatable. We know that detecting colorectal cancer at an early stage improves survival rates.  Register today by clicking here!
F.U.N. Program Brings You the Recipe of the Month!
Families Understanding Nutrition (or F.U.N.) is a program of the Rise Pantry that helps families understand the impact of proper nutrition and how to create healthful meals with ingredients from our Rise Pantry!  On March 21st, during our regular distribution hours, volunteers will be preparing the Recipe of the Month right there at the pantry and handing out samples for clients to try!  The Recipe of the Month will be available as a meal kit that pantry clients can opt to take with them as a supplemental part of our regular distribution! Last month was our first month trying out this new program, and it was so well received that we've decided to keep it going!  Stay tuned for details on next month's recipe!
February Community Impact by the Numbers

Every day, our mission is to help our neighbors in whatever way we can.  In January, we had 1,576 visits to the food pantry by 473 local families. We distributed 16,395 bags of food to local families and handed out 91 bags of pet food.  124 bags of personal care supplies were given to those in need, as well as 541 bags of baby supplies to new parents in low-income families.  277 of our Rise volunteers donated 1,952 hours of their time.  Our efforts are made possible by donations that we receive and by our amazing volunteers.  We want you to know that you are making a huge difference in the lives of people around you who may be struggling and lifting up your entire community.  If you want to help us make these numbers grow, you can donate to Rise at https://njrise.org/donate. Want to make even more of an impact? Become a Rise Good Neighbor and pledge to make a recurring monthly contribution that helps us better manage our budget and know that we are ready to take action when needs arise outside of our normal fundraising schedule, which has become our reality in recent years.

We would like to thank Meadow Lakes for hosting our Rising Starts dance recital and also thank everyone who attended to support our students!
