The registration to the 2nd Annual Meeting of ARIES, which will take place at the Hotel Mercure Korona in Budapest (Hungary) from 8 to 12 April 2019, is now open on the Indico site:

The outline agenda of the meeting, practical details, information regarding social events and visits are available from the site and will be updated regularly. Please note that deadline for Hotel Registration is 7th of February 2019.

Two parallel ARIES events will take place, which require a separate registration:
  • 8 April: WP14 Additive Manufacturing Workshop (at the Wigner Institute)
  • 11 April, 12 April: WAMHTS-5 workshop on Accelerator Magnets in HTS
Special Workpackage meetings will be organised on Monday 8 April and Tuesday 9 April morning; please refer to your Workpackage Coordinator for schedule and details. The plenary sessions will start at 13:00 on Tuesday 9 and finish at 12:30 on Thursday 11 April.

Please register as soon as possible to the event(s) you would like to attend.

CERN Accelerator School on High-Gradient Wakefield Acceleration

Following the very successful school on “Plasma Wake Acceleration” in 2014, ARIES and the CERN Accelerator School are co-organising a new 10-day course on “High Gradient Wakefield Acceleration” that will take place in Sesimbra, Portugal, from 11 to 22 March 2019.

The course will cover the different components of a plasma wake accelerator and plasma, as well as dielectric beam systems. An overview of the experimental studies, diagnostic tools and wake acceleration facilities will complement the theoretical part.
The course will be of interest for a wide range of students and staff, working in or having an interest in the field of these new acceleration techniques.

Please note that there is a limited number of student grants available for this school, to be awarded to applicants who have difficulty in finding funding (rather than on merit) and who would otherwise be unable to attend the school.

ARIES Periodic Report 1

Thanks to all the contributors, the 1st ARIES Periodic Report covering the first 18 months of the project (May 2017 – October 2018) has been completed and submitted to the European Commission. The report, which is full of interesting information on ARIES and its achievements, can be accessed at:

To acknowledge EC support in your publications...

Please do not forget to include the EC acknowledgement in all your publications (journal articles, conference papers, presentations, internal notes, etc.) related to ARIES and to upload a copy of your publication on Zenodo.

A tutorial on how to upload a publication has been made available at:
Be aware that there have been cases of publications being refused by the Commission because they indicate more than one EU project as funding source – which is part of a recent action against double funding.

To avoid problems, you are advised to choose only one EU project as main funding source of your work, to be acknowledged with the standard mention:
