Good morning

I would like to congratulate the winners of the 2019 Prime Minister's Awards for Excellence in Public Sector Management. The six winners were announced last week at a presentation ceremony at Parliament House in Canberra. There were a record 42 nominations in this years' Awards, with 22 finalists making it through to the second round. More information on the Awards is below.

We have a busy schedule leading up to Christmas, including a sold out event on Thursday with the CEO of Microsoft, Satya Nadella. Tickets are still available for our last few events, more information is below.

THURSDAY 21 NOVEMBER - GREAT HALL, PARLIAMENT HOUSE

David Thodey AO will join Satya Nadella, CEO of Microsoft, for a highly relevant conversation about organisational transformation and cultural change. This event has sold to capacity, however will be filmed and later available on our website here.

Registrations are now open for IPAAeX, the 2020 IPAA National Conference, to be held in Sydney on 12 May. Hosted by IPAA NSW, this conference will focus on the big issues around the theme of 'Re-inventing Service'.

IPAA was pleased to host the second annual Williams Oration with keynote speaker Dr Megan Clark AC, Head of the Australian Space Agency at the Department of Industry, Innovation and Science. The event was opened by Amanda Story, Partner at MinterEllison and was hosted by Elizabeth Kelly PSM, Deputy Secretary at the Department of Industry, Innovation and Science. More event photos can be found on our website here.

DEMYSTIFYING CYBER SECURITY
THURSDAY 31 OCTOBER - NATIONAL PORTRAIT GALLERY

IPAA were pleased to host a keynote address by Rachel Noble PSM, Head of the Australian Cyber Security Centre at the Australian Signals Directorate. Rachel was then joined for panel discussion by Marc Ablong PSM, Deputy Secretary at the Department of Home Affairs and Craig Hancock, Global Chief Information Security Officer, Telstra. The event was was hosted by Heather Cook, Deputy Director-General at Australian Security Intelligence Organisation.

MAXIMISING VALUE FROM DATA 
THURSDAY 17 OCTOBER - NATIONAL GALLERY OF AUSTRALIA

IPAA partnered with the Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet to deliver the half-day conference: Maximising Value from Data. Opening remarks were made by Phillip Gould from the Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet, followed by a keynote address from Professor Abigail Payne, Director, Melbourne Institute of Applied Economic and Social Research. Closing remarks were made by David W. Kalisch the Australian Statistician. More event resources can be found here.
