The holiday season is upon us! Before we head into final exam season, followed by the rounds of holiday gatherings, too many sweets, and last-minute shopping, we'd like to take a moment to express our gratitude to you.
In this time of thanksgiving, please know that we, the members of Staff Council, are deeply grateful for you, for all that you do, for all that you are, and for the community you help build here every day. We all know how critically important the staff are to the life of this university. We appreciate your work and presence among us!
Please see below for our most recent announcements of upcoming events, staff service awards, and more expressions of gratitude.
And lastly, please: if there is anything you need from us, please don't hesitate to let us know. We are here for you!
with gratitude, JCU Staff Council

Nominate a Staff Member for the Staff Community Service Award!
The Center for Service and Social Action has asked us to invite all staff members to nominate a colleague for the John Carroll University Staff Community Service Award.
This award recognizes individuals for outstanding service to the greater Cleveland community in representing a “faith that does justice.”
Nominees should be John Carroll employees who have made a consistently positive impact on the community through voluntary service and have a demonstrated commitment to the community, to social justice, and to the values of Jesuit education. The nominee must be a current, full-time employee who has been with the University for at least 2 years. (Members of the faculty are not eligible for this award; a separate award, the Curtis W. Miles Faculty Award for Community Service is available.)
A brief note of thanks to all staff members who participated in activities for Custodial Staff Recognition Week: sharing a meal, leaving a note of gratitude, or any other one of many ways in which we gathered together as a community to appreciate our hardworking colleagues from GCA services, who keep JCU such a beautiful and clean place to come to work.
If you are interested in helping plan activities for next semester's appreciation events for Aramark, Turfscape and Follett staff, please let us know at firstname.lastname@example.org.
What is YOUR favorite benefit offered to JCU staff?
For our "Question of the Month," we asked staff members around the university to tell us: what is your favorite benefit about working here? See what they said!
We have new answers to questions submitted to the Staff Council Q&A form this month!
Staff Council advocates for all university staff. Click here to see our most recent position statement on staff participation in the Presidential Search.
We’ve hired 4 new staff members since October 25! Go read about them on our recently updated our list of staff transitions.
"Recognition and respect of all members of the John Carroll University community are necessary and appropriate for the University to live up to its mission, vision, and core values. As one of the largest constituencies on the University campus (second only to students), the staff represents a highly diverse group of professionals whose contributions are critical to the quality, integrity, credibility and continued growth of the University. An informed, active, and engaged community, with the ability to participate and share its opinions and interests concerning the conduct of institutional affairs and life in the workplace, is critical to the mission of the University." -- Staff Council Constitution
