Welcome to another installment of the Different Brains® newsletter! Since out last newsletter, we have seen a cavalcade of interesting stories an finding from the neurodiverse community. We heard about how scientists believe they may have found the cause of dyslexia, learned about a possible genetic foundation of OCD, found out about a group in South Africa that is raising epilepsy awareness, saw how yellow pumpkins were being used to raise disability awareness on Halloween, and read about a new autism resource for physical fitness that is opening in Chicago.
Meanwhile Spencer Kelly (pictured below with Different Brains founder Dr. Hackie Reitman at the 2017 USAAA Conference in Portland), a 16 year old with Asperger’s syndrome, shared how he developed his own soap companyDavid A. Grant recounted his recent struggles with denial in advance of the 7th anniversary of his traumatic brain injury; and Dr. Brian Udell discussed how parents can overcome disagreements when exploring options for their children with autism.

In episode one, Dan discusses raising his son Samuel, who has cerebral palsy, and the importance of creating an inclusive atmosphere for children with disabilities.
