Dear Casa Community,

If you saw the video above you'll hear me mention how this past week I have seen God move mightily through the hearts of so many of you! You have left us in awe of how you have responded to the needs of the community. Since last Friday, we have received nearly $23,000 in direct emergency aid for the Casa families, including a $10,000 grant from ACT of Alexandria through the ACT Now Fund. We've received so many food donations while items on our Amazon wish-list continue to be delivered. Thank you!

We've transitioned Casa Chirilagua programs to online platforms. The Youth Programs team has been busy setting up ongoing online tutoring sessions and using Facebook Live for Family Room sessions

As we continue to touch base with families, we are amazed by their resilience and faith. Even a crisis like this hasn't dampened the joy of so many in hardship. Our first Zoom call with parents was full of smiles and laughs as we reflected on the first-ever monthly parent meeting held virtually through Facebook Live.

We don't know how long this situation will last which means we will continue collecting and channeling funds and donations to families in need for the foreseeable future. I will keep you updated on our progress and developing needs each week.

Here's how you can support Casa Chirilagua families:

  • PURCHASE items from our Amazon wishlist and have them delivered to Casa Chirilagua: 4109 Mt. Vernon Ave. Alexandria, VA 22305.
  • DONATE financially to families. Funds will go directly to Casa families to help pay for rent and/or utilities.
  • PRAY for health and protection in our community. Our community is very dense and if contamination were to happen, the virus will spread quickly.
  • DONATE to Casa Chirilagua. Your support enables our staff to continue providing for the community during this challenging time.
  • SUPPORT Casa Chirilagua during Spring2Action on April 15th (early giving begins April 3rd). This 24-hour online event is our biggest fundraiser of the year. Your support ensures we can continue providing vital emergency aid to Casa families and continue our online programs.
In hope,
