WATCH THE KIDS FIRST CHICAGO SCHOOL SEARCH VIDEO

The new universal application for high schools officially opens next Monday, October 2, 2017, and our team continues to support families as they search for high-quality school options, and the district on the successful implementation of GoCPS.

We continue to:
  • Provide comprehensive one-on-one and group enrollment support to families, communities, and schools via our Kids First Chicago initiative. We’ve updated our enrollment services and expanded our community partnerships to help families through the new—and improved—enrollment process.
  • Work directly with the district in creating and distributing clearer and more effective information on school quality for parents and students as they prepare to apply to a range of school options.
  • Host parent focus groups on the GoCPS application process. This collaborative effort with our Kids First Chicago field team members, NSC policy team, and CPS is designed to poll parents at each stage of the new enrollment process. By gathering feedback, we will help CPS refine the enrollment process for years to come—better serving families districtwide.
K1C’s Enhanced School Search Tool. We’ve refreshed our school search tool to better serve families. New features include the ability to save and compare favorites side-by-side, and a connected table and map that allows parents to navigate school options seamlessly. You can check out new features by watching the video.

Great Schools Matter:

Sariah's Story

In our third installment of Great Schools Matter, Sariah and her family share their experience transitioning from a low-performing to a high-performing Chicago public school. Sariah and her parents found a consistent Level 1+ school for her to transfer to in 8th grade. Since changing schools, Sariah's grades and engagement in school have improved. Her new high-quality school supports and challenges her to reach her academic potential.

Our vision is to ensure that every child in Chicago has access to a high-quality education. Visit our website to learn more about our mission and work.
