HEARTS OF GOLD
For the past 21 years, Vince and Anne Garreffa have opened their home and their hearts to host the annual Lifeline WA Brunch. The Aspinall Family with co-hosts Mondo Community Warriors and the WA Branch of the International Wine and Food Society provided a family-style feast of epic proportions, prepared by Perth’s top chefs in the Garreffa's backyard in Mt Lawley. Vince's trademark charisma and humorous anecdotes encouraged guests to dig deep for Lifeline WA during the live and silent auctions that featured items and experiences donated by leading restaurateurs, retailers and celebrity chefs.

This year more than $400 000 was raised to support the Western Australian community. A huge thank you to Vince and Anne and all of the amazing sponsors, donors and volunteers at the event. What an amazing and inspiring day!

THANK YOU TO  SNC-LAVALIN
SNC-Lavalin, a leading engineering and construction organisation, has supported Lifeline WA since 2014. The mental health, safety and wellbeing of SNC-Lavalin employees is their number one priority and their Australia and Asia Senior Regional Executive, Brian Kelly believes that it is good business sense. “1 in 5 Western Australians will experience a mental illness each year, so it’s a priority of SNC-Lavalin’s to be involved with Lifeline WA who will support Western Australians all over the state, every day of the year.” We look forward to the ongoing support and partnership opportunities with Western Australia’s corporate sector, including that of SNC-Lavalin.
OUR EVERYDAY HEROES
Lifeline WA has more than 140 valuable volunteers who answer the phone to people in crisis – anywhere in the State, every hour of the day, every day of the year. Peter is one of them. Peter has been a crisis support volunteer with Lifeline WA for 3 years and finds it very rewarding being able to help others. He enjoys having conversations with people who have discovered inspiring ways of dealing with life and adversity.
“The main qualities that crisis support volunteers must have are empathy, an enquiring mind, listening skills and patience.”
HASSELL DISTRICT TRADERS’ CAUSE FOR CELEBRATION
Thank you to David and Vicki Edwards and the team at Hassell District Traders in Jerramungup, who raised an impressive $6850 for Lifeline WA in March! The funds were raised through a trade show and auction as part of a celebration of Hassell District Traders 20 year anniversary.
“The auctioned items were donated by suppliers who attended the trade show, and included: eskies; pumps; chemicals and even tickets to the Fremantle Dockers and West Coast Eagles derby in July,” said David of Hassel District Traders. David and Vicki expressed their gratitude for all the donations from suppliers, as well as their effort in attending the trade show.
The $6850 raised was presented to Susan Schofield, Advocacy and Fundraising Manager at Lifeline WA in Jerramungup last week. “We are really grateful and impressed by the initiative they showed and the great effort they put into raising these much needed funds to support their fellow Western Australians,” said Susan.
