Split Circular Bellows

Split bellows are utilised when it is not practicable to remove a shaft or screw without facilitating a major rebuild. Split bellows can be fitted for both vertical and horizontal applications. Control tapes are recommended and are used to aid uniform opening and closing of the new split bellow.
Existing damaged bellows are carefully cut free from the shaft or screw. This is a good time to inspect the shaft for damage or wear and to clean and lubricate it as required.
The new split bellows are fed continuously onto the shaft a few gussets, or vees, at a time from one side or end, until the entire bellow is wrapped around the shaft. The split bellows can have collars or flanges for fixing to the machine. If flanges are used at either or both ends then the required steel fixing rings will also need to be split.
Once the new bellow has been fitted it should be rotated so that the split is furthest away from or opposite to the direction of possible ingress. This is usually underneath the shaft on horizontal applications or facing the column when used vertically.
