Springtime in Alaska!

It is hard to imagine after the long winter, but I think Spring is finally here. Yes, it snowed here just a week ago, but (glory hallelujah!) the sun is shining and the snow is melting! Temperatures are getting into the mid-40s, and the days are getting longer. The sun is setting about 8 p.m now, and Abby-Li (my dog) and I are happy to be thawing out.

However, with the Spring and the thaw come puddles and slush and the general sloppiness of it all. There is no such thing as keeping your car clean here. I have to wash my headlights off before driving at night and have gone through copious amounts of windshield wiper fluid! My rubber boots are definitely close by at all times now.

Lighthouse Update

In my last newsletter, I shared how God opened a door for me to start a new young adult ministry called Lighthouse for 18-30 year olds at my local church. Thank you all for your prayers for this ministry! We meet on Saturday nights for fellowship and Bible study. Once a month, we have a social event in place of regular Bible Study. This past Saturday, we held a Game Night. My prayer was for God to provide an atmosphere of laid-back fun and connection. I believe He did just that as we laughed, got to know each other better, and played a card game. It was such a blessing to see personalities emerge as people got comfortable and even a little competitive!

We are still working to get the word out about the ministry, but are averaging about five in attendance. I know that may not sound like a large turnout, but it is an exciting start to me! Just imagine what God can do with ONE person surrendered to Him. If even ONE chooses to go all out and live in faith for Christ, or if TWO gather together and pray, or if THREE create a bond in discipleship that is not easily broken... Alaska and this world will be changed for the Lord! Do "numbers" matter in ministry? EVERY number matters. Jesus died to save the world... every single ONE of us. Keep praying for God to grow this ministry, both in numbers and in hearts!
Special Prayer Request

I recently took a personal prayer day to drive out to Hatcher Pass. A long scenic drive is one of the best ways I find to pour out my heart before the Lord. Once I reached my destination, I sat and inquired of the Lord about my life and ministry in Alaska. The sun was shining, the wind was blowing, and God spoke clearly. Not only did He remind me of His past provision, but He reminded me of His infinite love for me. Please pray for me as I seek Jesus daily and as I make decisions about ministry partnerships and opportunities the Lord puts before me. I'm a stubborn little redhead and am often a bit of a hot mess, but I long deeply to be all God can transform me to be and be used for His glory. He is good, and He will do it!
  • Praise: Lighthouse has begun!
  • Pray: For volunteer help in my church to minister with Lighthouse.
  • Pray: For for young adults to visit Lighthouse, build a community of disciples, and be the Light in the darkness!
The view along the way to Hatcher Pass. What a perfect place to hear from the Lord!

Attended the Spring women's retreat with my church in March. The theme of the retreat was "Surrender." It was a great time of friendship and connection with women from my church!
Fun times at the retreat with sweet sisters in Christ!
