Celebrating Jane’s Walk with 2 Free Walking Tours 

1. WATT STREET NORTH WALKING TOUR SATURDAY MAY 7th, 2016. Meeting at Rossmere Golf & Country Club at 1:00PM - Led by JIM SMITH.This is approx. a 3.2 km walk along  Watt St., with the turnaround point at Munroe Avenue  and back to the Rossmere Golf & Country Club. Highlights will be:

  • Tour inside the Holy Eucharist Ukrainian Catholic Parish 
  • Viewing the beautiful stained glass of Leo Mol
  • Dr. Sam Hrushovetz will discuss the 100th Anniversary plaque commemorating the Canadian Government War Measures Act of August 22nd, 1914.                                                                                                                            
2. HAZEL DELL AVENUE / PURPLE HOUSE / MUNROE HOUSE – SUNDAY MAY 8TH, 2016 Meeting at the pillars at Hazel Dell Ave. & Henderson Hwy, at 1:00PM Led by SHIRLEY     KOWALCHUK.  Highligsts will be:
  • A picturesque walk graced with lovely old trees featuring beautiful old homes. The street is peppered with homes owned by professionals, politicians & athletes. 
  • A selection of these homes & residents will be depicted on this tour. 
  • Our neighbourhoods’ famous ‘Purple House’ built in 1921 and known for its beautiful gardens will be featured, ending with the Munroe House originally built in 1892 by the Munroe Family.

Home Fix-up Workshops and Grants 

The workshops are well-attended and the remaining workshops are full. Almost 70 people have attended so far. We plan to run them again next year!

Application deadline of April 29 for fix up grant has come and gone. we received 80 applications in total. Applicants will be hearing from us by mid- May to find out if they are accepted or not. The grant will be offered again next year!

Brush up Winnipeg  

Apply for getting your house painted or volunteer to paint a house.
Deadline is May 20.

Home Maintenance Program  

Call Good Neighbours Active Living Centre at 204 806-1303, to get help with housekeeping, meal prep, painting, carpentry, yard work, electrical, plumbing and other handyman jobs.

 If you would like to provide one of these services and you are 50+ call the above number.

  • Poplar Ave from Brazier to Henderson will receive a complete street renewal and rehabilitation this summer!
  • 15th Annual Happy Days on Henderson event is just around the corner! Saturday June 11th, 11-3 at 81 Henderson.
  • Elmwood youth services are providing help with “odd jobs” for seniors of Elmwood. Need help with lawn care, gardening or yard clean-up? -call Sean at 204 982-1720 ext 309.
