My Sister is in Savannah!
Welcome New Subscribers!
Actually, she isn't there yet, but my sister is on her way to Savannah, Georgia. Her oldest, a daughter, is in her freshman year at college. My sister misses her, so she planned a mother-daughter getaway for spring break. I can't wait to hear about their adventure!
I've traveled with my mother and my daughters. My mother and I traveled to The Netherlands several years ago - my first trip abroad. That trip was so memorable, that I made a vow to myself to take a trip with each of my daughters. Since that time I've made several trips, once with all my daughters and other times with just one of them. I have wonderful memories from each trip.
I am so glad my sister and her daughter have this opportunity. I hope she will be able to take a unique trip with each of her children some day.
It's wonderful to travel as a family or even take a trip with good friends, but it's special to be able to spend to spend time one-on-one with our children. You may not be able to take a trip to Europe, or even Savannah, but a trip to the museum or to your child's favorite restaurant can build the bond you have with them.
What have you done with your children - or your parents - that makes them feel loved? What other things can you do?
I hope you enjoy reading the posts this week. Share the newsletter with your family and friends! If you are reading your friend's newsletter, you can sign up for your own here.

This Week's Post:

Should I Pack This?

When I pack, I usually follow the “less is more” rule. I like to pack light – I can travel throughout Europe for three weeks or more with just a carry-on. It is easy for me to decide which clothing options to bring, but sometimes it’s the “extras” that I have to think about.

Should I pack my bathing suit?  What about my hair dryer? An umbrella? Jewelry? A hat? There are several items that may be classified as extras. Here are some suggestions to help you decide:

Looking for the Sound of Music, Part 2

There are several sites in Salzburg, Austria that were used in the filming of the Sound of Music.  Visitors can see some of them on the Original Sound of Music bus tour that I detailed in the first part of Looking for the Sound of Music.  There are some sites that are not included on the tour, but are easily accessible in the “old Town” part of the city.

The bus tour ends and drops its passengers off at the edge of the Mirabell Gardens.  This beautiful garden was used for the filming of most of the singing of “Do Re Mi.”  Maria and the children dance around the fountain, run through the arbor and finish the song on the steps at the west end of the garden (where I’m standing to take the picture).

The Nonnberg Abbey, where the original Maria Von Trapp was a postulate, is located...
