Qualifications:
Candidates must have the academic background to be tenured within the School of Music and administrative experience aligned with the position.
Position Expectations:
The School of Music Director oversees the academic and administrative functions of a comprehensive School of Music, working with students, staff, faculty, and college leadership to develop and sustain strategic alliances, partnerships, and collaborations to broaden impact and promote a culture of research and creative activity. The ideal candidate will be able to sustain a culture of anti-racism and anti-oppression while using an inquiry-based and collaborative-based approach to leadership, research, creative practice, strategic planning, team building, and implementation.

Institutional Information:
The School of Music takes pride in its student-centered philosophy and the quality of the individualized instruction provided by its 54 full-time faculty, 11 part-time/online instructors, guest artists, and scholars. Enrolling approximately 325 students, the school offers undergraduate and graduate degrees in a wide range of programs, guiding students to become performers, teachers, and scholars. Among undergraduate students, the majority are music education majors, and the school serves an additional 1,000 students annually in academic courses designed to fulfill general education arts requirements for the University. The School of Music enrolls approximately 75 graduate students in master’s and doctoral programs.
