The Development Commission of the Gordon Institute for Music Learning invites submission of recent research reports for review and consideration to be presented during the Research Poster Session at the Sixth International Conference on Music Learning Theory (August 1-3, 2017 in Chicago, IL).
Types of Submissions Sought:
Our goal is to encourage and share the work of music researchers, students, and practitioners. We welcome submissions from music educators who teach at all levels and who employ a broad spectrum of research methodologies. Completed master's theses or doctoral dissertations, as well as reports of other original research studies, are all of interest and appropriate for submission.
Topics Sought:
Research reports in music education or other related topics (e.g., audiation, aptitude, measurement and evaluation, psychology, early childhood, pedagogy) are welcome.
Submission Information:
Those who wish to submit a report for consideration should comply with the following guidelines:

1. To submit completed master's or doctoral research, it is only necessary to submit a copy of (a) the document's title page, (b) the abstract, and (c) the signature page that indicates that the paper was accepted in partial fulfillment of degree requirements. The name of the degree-granting institution should appear on one of these pages, or must be included with the submission, as well as the author’s name, address, and e-mail.

2. To submit a report of any other type of original research project, student or faculty researchers may e-mail an abstract of their project. The project should demonstrate sound research practices with appropriate writing style. Proposals reflecting in-progress research will be considered. The abstract should not identify the author(s) in any way; each author’s name, address, e-mail, and current school affiliation should be included in a separate document.

Papers should be sent by e-mail as a .pdf, .doc or .docx file to Dr. Herbert Marshall ( with “GIML Poster” in the subject field. Authors will be notified of the results of the selection process by e-mail.

Those participating in the Research Poster Session are expected to register for and attend the conference. Early registration deadline is July 1, 2017.
