Assistant Professor of Music Education
The candidate must have a completed doctoral degree upon appointment, show demonstrated success in university teaching, and have three years of successful instrumental music teaching experience. Candidates should demonstrate a record of and/or potential for significant scholarly contributions to the field.
Position Expectations:
The Music Department at the University of Delaware seeks a dynamic and accomplished instrumental music educator to support its flourishing music education program. The successful candidate will demonstrate leadership and innovation as a music educator and researcher and support the scholarly and creative spirit of the Music Department. S/he will join a department of over sixty professional faculty representing the highest levels of professional performance and academic quality. Primary duties for this position comprise teaching undergraduate and graduate courses in music education within the candidate’s area(s) of expertise; advising graduate theses and projects and serving on graduate student committees; supervising instrumental music student teachers; recruiting and advising instrumental music education majors; and overseeing instrumental methods courses. In addition, the successful candidate will develop partnerships with area instrumental music teachers through inservice clinics and workshops, demonstrate a commitment to excellence in the field of instrumental music education through a strong or emerging scholarly presence as evidenced by conference presentations and publications, and participate in departmental activities and governance.
