Assistant Professor of Music Education, Choral Emphasis (Tenure-Track)
  1. PhD or EdD in Music Education; ABD candidates with a confirmed degree completion date will be considered;
  2. At least 3 years of successful college-level teaching experience, including as a TA;
  3. Successful record of at least 3 years of public school teaching experience with a choral emphasis.
Proven experience with current teacher certification standards on state and national levels; A record of and potential for teaching and scholarship that engage pedagogies and issues at the forefront of the field.

The ideal candidate will demonstrate potential as an innovative teacher-scholar in a competitive Liberal Arts context, and whose research, publications, and practice suggest promise for shaping the future of the field, especially broadening perspectives and access for communities that are traditionally underserved by Music Education. 
Position Expectations:
The Department of Music at The College of New Jersey invites applications for a full-time, tenure track Assistant Professor of Music Education, Choral Emphasis beginning in the 2017-2018 academic year. This position carries a 3-3 teaching load, which, depending on the candidate's expertise and departmental needs, could include Introduction to Music Education, 7-12 Choral Practicum, Student Teaching Seminar, student teaching supervision, and a choral ensemble, as well as Liberal Learning offerings and courses for the College's First Seminar Program. This position also carries the expectation for an active and productive research program, and service to the Department, College, and profession.
