Tenure-track appointment at the rank of Assistant Professor. Salary commensurate with training and experience.
Required: Doctorate in music required by Fall 2017. At least one degree must be in music education. An exemplary record of teaching choral music in secondary schools for a minimum of three years is required. The successful candidate will demonstrate professional maturity and a desire to establish good relationships with secondary schools and state and national professional music organizations. Candidates should have a demonstrated record of publication/research and the ability to produce scholarly writing and research presentations sufficient to achieve tenure. We seek candidates with the demonstrated potential to contribute effectively to a faculty team dedicated to creating a positive, dynamic, and inclusive learning environment for an increasingly diverse student population.

Preferred: Doctorate in music education. Evidence of excellence in teaching at the college level.
Position Expectations:
The University of Oregon School of Music and Dance is seeking a dynamic teacher, researcher, and conductor to provide leadership in music education and choral music for the state, region, and nation. Primary responsibilities for the position will include (1) teaching music education courses at the graduate and undergraduate levels including Choral Methods, Choral Conducting, and Teaching Singing; (2) coordinating and supervising student teacher field experiences and practica; and (3) supervising graduate and undergraduate research. Other courses assigned are dependent upon candidate’s expertise and area needs and may include choral ensemble direction, Music Education Research Methods, Curricular Strategies, Classroom Management, Music in School and Society, Psychology of Music, or Rehearsal Techniques. Additional responsibilities will include assisting in student recruitment and advising graduate and undergraduate students. Position provides opportunities for summer session course instruction and development. Candidates will be expected to maintain an active program of research/scholarly and creative activities, serve on committees, and perform other appropriate university and professional service.
