Assistant Professor of Music Education
Qualifications include the Ph.D. in music education (ABD will be considered for appointment), Ed.D., or equivalent, and significant experience in K-12 music education. The department is seeking a candidate with experience in working with a diverse student population.
Position Expectations:
The position’s responsibilities include teaching Choral Methods in Music Education, directing University Chorus, and supervising interns and student teachers. Depending on the candidate’s qualifications, additional responsibilities may include teaching Music Education as a Profession, Learning and Development for music education majors, or various graduate music education courses.

Founded in 1907, UCA has an enrollment of more than 11,000, of which approximately 1,800 are graduate students. The university offers more than 90 undergraduate and 60 graduate certificate and degree programs, including seven doctoral programs. The student body consistently scores above the national average on the ACT exam. UCA is proud of its tradition of teaching excellence and its contributions in research, scholarship, and creative activities. The campus is widely acclaimed for its beauty. UCA is located in Conway, Arkansas, a thriving city of approximately 65,000 in central Arkansas, and thirty minutes from Little Rock. Conway is home to several major industries, two private colleges, an excellent public school system, and strong private K12 schools. Residents have easy access to the Ouachita and Ozark National forests and pristine wildlife areas near the Buffalo National River.

The College of Fine Arts and Communication invites applications and nominations for a nine-month tenure track position of Assistant Professor of Music Education in the Department of Music. The department enjoys endowments and private scholarship funds of approximately $1.5 million, annual university performance scholarships of over $700,000, a visiting artist series, and NASM accreditation. Many performances are presented in the state-of-the-art, 1200-seat, Donald W. Reynolds Performance Hall.

The department serves 200 majors and minors, and offers both undergraduate and graduate degrees: BA, BM (Music Education, Composition, Performance), MM (Music Education, Performance, Conducting, Theory), as well as a Graduate Certificate program. The faculty is composed of 33 full-time and 11 adjunct members, most of whom have national and international reputations.
