As we embark on this seventh symposium, our goal is to sustain professional conversations and collaborative action while challenging our profession to imagine possibilities for the future of music education. Specifically, this year’s theme, Imagining Possible Futures, invites us to consider who will be engaged in music education, where and in which contexts music education occurs, what will be the expectations for and experiences within music education, and how music education will be funded and supported. While we contemplate the future, we also wish to consider the impact of our informative past and our dynamic present, to ascertain how change might be enacted.
Types of Submissions Sought:
500-word abstract for presentations and posters
Topics Sought:
The call encourages submissions focused on the 2017 Symposium theme Imagining Possible Futures. Proposals related to the work of the ASPAs and other topics in music teacher education are also welcomed.
Submission Information:
To submit a proposal online, please follow the directions in the Call for Proposals and the accompanying Proposal Submission Form, available on the 2017 Symposium website ( 
Deadline for Submissions:
Submissions will be accepted through April 17, 2017. Authors will be notified of acceptance by June 15, 2017.
