Kennesaw State University, The Bailey School of Music
Assistant Professor of Music Education, Instrumental (Band), nine-month, tenure-track
  • Earned terminal degree (Ph.D., Ed.D., D.M.A.), or foreign equivalent in the field of music education.
  • A minimum of 3 years of K-12 public school teaching (band) at the middle and/or high school levels.
  • A record of excellence in teaching instrumental music (band) with expertise ranging from beginning to advanced level pedagogy.
  • Possess substantial knowledge of trends in the field of music education and public education, including instrumental pedagogy, educational literature and technology, and inclusive practices in the classroom.
  • Demonstrate evidence of scholarly contributions to the field of music education through publications, presentations, and/or conducting.
  • Demonstrate a record of community engagement and service to the profession.
Position Expectations:
  • Teach appropriate courses in the music education sequence
  • Supervise student teachers
  • Conduct university ensembles as needed
  • Engage in scholarship commensurate with expectations of a tenure-track faculty at Kennesaw State University
  • Serve as part of a collaborative music education team with specialists in band, choir, orchestra, general music, and research
  • Contribute to School, College, and University shared governance
  • Work with a diverse community
  • Additional responsibilities, as assigned by the Dr. Bobbie Bailey School of Music Director
