Visiting Assistant Professor of Instrumental Music Education/Head of Music Education
Qualifications:
Earned doctorate in music. (Candidates who are ABD will be considered; completed doctorate required by 8/15/16.)

Significant public school teaching experience.

Knowledge of current instrumental music education methodology and teacher preparation program requirements.

College/University teaching experience preferred.
Position Expectations:
The Chicago College of Performing Arts at Roosevelt University invites applications for a Visiting Assistant Professor of Instrumental Music Education for a one-year appointment beginning August 15, 2016.

Teach undergraduate instrumental methods and other courses related to the candidate’s expertise. Prepare students to take and pass the edTPA portfolio requirement for licensure. Provide pedagogical, curricular, and organizational leadership for music education faculty (1 other full-time and 5 adjunct). Contribute to student recruitment efforts and develop relationships with state and regional music educators.

Institutional Information:
The Chicago College of Performing Arts offers undergraduate and graduate performance majors in all instruments and voice, as well as composition. In the discipline of Music Education, we offer four-year Bachelor of Music curricula with an emphasis in either Choral or Instrumental Music Education, as well as five-year Bachelor of Music curricula with a double major in Music Education and Performance, available in both the choral and instrumental emphases. Our faculty includes 24 full-time and over 90 part-time adjunct and artist faculty (with over 25 members of the Chicago Symphony and Lyric Opera Orchestras), and a current student enrollment of 300.
