University of Arizona, Fred Fox School of Music
Assistant Professor of Music Education (General)
  • An earned doctorate in Music Education from an accredited institution (ABD with projected completion prior to position start will be considered).
  • A minimum of 3 years of teaching experience at the elementary/middle school level.
  • Experience using a variety of teaching methods and/or curricular perspectives to respond to the needs of a diverse student body.
  • Potential for scholarly achievement.
  • Teaching experience at the college or university level. (Preferred)
  • Orff and/or Kodaly and/or Dalcroze certification. (Preferred)
  • Experience teaching world music in the context of music education undergraduate and graduate classes. (Preferred)
  • Experience engaging diverse communities in college outreach efforts. (Preferred)
Position Expectations:
  • Teaching music education courses at the graduate and undergraduate levels
  • Maintaining a record of scholarly and/or creative activity
  • Supervising graduate and undergraduate research, including graduate theses and dissertations, graduate teaching assistants proving instruction in methods courses, and organizing outreach activities
  • Coordinating and supervising student teacher field experiences
  • Other courses assigned will be dependent upon the candidate’s expertise and area needs.
  • Additional responsibilities will include assisting in student recruitment and advising graduate and undergraduate music education students.
