The WMEA extends the opportunity to individuals to present research that stands to benefit the future of music education. Research studies should not have been previously published, but may also represent work in progress. Submissions of undergraduate research or collaborative studies with undergraduate students also encouraged. Submit an extended abstract of the study (300-500 words), which outlines the purpose, methodology, and findings of the study. These should be sent electronically as an attachment with a title, however no name, to Dr. Lois Veenhoven Guderian, WMEA Research Chair: lguderia@uwsuper.edu. In the body of the email, include name, address, phone and school/professional affiliation. Notification of receipt and, if deemed appropriate, approval will be sent to the same email address.

If selected for presentation, each author must register for the conference and be in attendance. A copy of the research paper is required for the WMEA Archives. The poster session will take place on Thursday, October 27, 2016 at Monona Terrace, Madison, WI.

Submission Information:
Submit an extended abstract of the study (300-500 words), which outlines the purpose, methodology, and findings of the study. These should be sent electronically as an attachment with a title, however no name, to Dr. Lois Veenhoven Guderian, WMEA Research Chair: lguderia@uwsuper.edu. In the body of the email, include name, address, phone and school/professional affiliation.

Conference registration information is available at the WMEA website: (www.wmea.com). All poster session abstracts will be made available online at the WMEA Research Connection.

Research Poster Session: For approved research poster presentations, each presenter should bring the following to the conference.
  1. Copies of the abstract or research summary for distribution, including the author's name, professional affiliation, and contact information or some other form of contact information such as a business card.
  2. One copy of the completed research paper to be collected for archival purposes (30-page limitation for archiving).
  3. A visually appealing poster in flat-mounted format that can be placed on an easel (approximately 28 inches by 36 inches in size) that presents pertinent information concerning the research project. Please use stiff board backing for the poster. The contents should include the title, author's name(s) and affiliation(s), an abstract, and presentation of data (e.g., graphs, tables, samples of instruments, or other materials as appropriate).

Research posters selected for presentation can be brought to the area outside of the Main Exhibit Hall on the lower level of Monona Terrace known as Lakeside Commons between 9:15 -10:00 A.M on Thursday October 27th for set up and display throughout the day. Researchers whose work is accepted should plan to stand with their poster from 2:15-2:45 P.M. on the 27th in order to present and discuss their study with interested individuals who attend the scheduled research presentation. Researchers should have hard copies of the abstract available during the presentation beginning at 2:15.

Participants in the WMEA Research Poster Session are expected to adhere to the NAfME Code of Ethics.
