Perspective Online, Perkins School of Theology SMU
Welcome to Perkins Perspective Online, our monthly e-magazine with updates and information on the Perkins community!

Some 250 people from 19 states gathered this month virtually for the annual Perkins Fall Convocation, with gospel icon Kirk Franklin and author Tod Bolsinger; we have the highlights.  Graduates and students of Perkins’s Sacred Music program from around the world will join the Advent Worship service on Dec. 3; we have a preview.  Plus, homiletical wisdom for preachers from top authors, a glimpse into the minds of “Nones,” a look ahead to the 2021 Perkins School of Youth Ministry, the 2020 Distinguished Alumni Award recipients, a faculty profile, alumni updates and more.

We hope you’ll enjoy this edition. Let us know if you have news you’d like to share.

Virtual Advent Service

Like many other annual events, the Perkins Advent Worship service will go virtual this year. Students and faculty in the Master of Sacred Music (M.S.M.) program are working to make the annual service as meaningful as possible and take advantage of the possibilities that the online format offers. And alumni of the program were invited to contribute, too.

The service will weave a variety of voices into a liturgical tapestry that will premiere on Thursday, December 3 at 6 p.m., on and will be on the Perkins YouTube channel afterwards.
