2018 'Fun in the Park' Photo Contest deadline is November 6

The deadline is approaching! As you were out enjoying Cobb County PARKS' activities and parks, you have likely taken numerous photos and captured the fun and memories of your sports activities, the beauty of nature and wildlife in the parks. Now is the time to go through your photos and submit the best to the 14th Annual "Fun in the Park" Photo Contest. Entries will be accepted through Tuesday, Nov. 6. Enter up to 10 of your best shots for fun and awards! Open to all photographers. See rules and download entry form below at the photo contest web page.

Stingrays' coach now in Hall of Fame

Francine Williamson was recently inducted into the Georgia Swimming Hall of Fame. Francine is a swim coach for the Stingray’s swim team and coaches at the Mountain View Aquatic Center. She is also a former employee of the Cobb County PARKS department as a lifeguard and swim lesson instructor at Mountain View Aquatic Center. She is Georgia’s most decorated female masters swimmer and has held 50 first place rankings from distance of 50 meters to 2 miles. Francine has also been ranked #1 from age groups 45-49 and 65-69 and she has held various national and world records. Recently she had a first place finish at the Pan American Games in Orlando. Congratulations Francine!

Encore Series 2019 schedule, individual tickets go on sale Nov. 5 Legally Blonde The Musical

Jennie T. Anderson Theatre has just released their 2019 Encore Series performance schedule. Once again, there are a variety of acts and performances to entertain everyone. All shows go on sale November 5th with renewals and new subscription sales already in progress. Subscriptions are $100 for the series. Individual tickets can be purchased at the box office and through Ticketmaster or call phone 770-528-8490

8th OF JANUARY: A Night of Bluegrass                             
8 p.m., Saturday, January 5, 2019. Tickets $30.00
Nominated for the Americana/Bluegrass GA Music Award in 2016, 8th of January is a Georgia bluegrass band with a selection ranging from traditional to modern bluegrass music. Played with precision and soul, musical selections from Old Crow Medicine Show, Alan Jackson, and Bob Dylan are few among their musical repertoire.

Pebblebrook High School presents LEGALLY BLONDE: The Musical
8 p.m., January 31 - February 2, 2019
3 p.m., February 3, 2019. Tickets $20.00
Based on the hit movie, Legally Blonde: The Musical follows Elle Woods as she traverses the halls of Harvard. After her break up with boyfriend Warner, Elle sets out to win him back by attending Harvard Law School. While there, she experiences the ups and downs of student life but sets out to prove herself to the world. This fabulous and action packed musical will delight and enthrall with its memorable songs, charming characters, and scandal.

KILLER QUEEN: A Tribute to Freddie Mercury & Queen                 
3 p.m., Sunday, May 5, 2019. Tickets $40.00
Killer Queen are the only tribute to have sold out the same arenas as Queen in their heyday. Patrick Myers and the band’s performances at Forest National and Ahoy were scale recreations of Queen’s epic performances. The band is also the longest established tribute to Queen. “No detail is overlooked. Killer Queen are kings of the musical impersonators, the highest of tributes,” writes Duncan Kennedy of BBC News.

MICHAEL CAVANAUGH: A Night of Billy Joel                
8 p.m., Saturday, August 10, 2019. Tickets $40.00
Michael Cavanaugh is the new voice of the American Rock & Roll Songbook and a charismatic performer and musician made famous for his piano/lead vocals in the Broadway musical Movin’ Out. Handpicked by Billy Joel to star in Movin Out, Cavanaugh evokes a style rivaling the Piano Man, and appeared in the show for 3 years and over 1,200 performances, receiving accolade after accolade, culminating in 2003 with both Grammy and Tony award nominations.

Join Us for Our Open House!

Join us on Thursday, Nov. 29 for an Open House as we celebrate our new Cobb PARKS Administration Complex. Come meet staff, join us for refreshments, and take a look around at our new facility! The Cobb PARKS Administration Complex was one of the last major projects from the 2016 SPLOST program. Staff has now moved in and we are ready for business. Join us between 11am-2pm. The Cobb PARKS Administration Complex is located at 1792 County Services Parkway, Marietta 30008.

Lost Mountain Park Lake to be closed for maintenance

The lower lake at Lost Mountain Park will be closed for maintenance from Nov. 2 through Nov. 11. We appreciate your patience during this time.
