Holiday performances return to the Jennie T. Anderson Theatre

Bring in the holidays with The Georgia Ballet’s 'Nutcracker'. This time-honored winter favorite is sure to enthrall all with dueling soldiers, enchanting fairies, exquisite dancing snowflakes and an absolutely magnificent growing Christmas tree. Watch the journey of a charming little girl as she makes her way into the Land of Sweets, Dec. 2-5, at the Jennie T. Anderson Theater in Marietta.

The 7 p.m. show Thursday, Dec. 2, will be a sensory friendly production. Sensory friendly performances are abbreviated shows with modifications for children and adults with different visual and auditory needs. The sensory friendly performance is an hour long with pre-recorded music.

The Nutcracker will feature live music from The Georgia Ballet Orchestra for all shows December 3-5. Click here for tickets.

Jennie T. Anderson Theatre brings a concert performance for the holiday with 'White Christmas: In Concert' produced by Cobb PARKS, the Jennie T. Anderson Theatre and the Atlanta Lyric Theatre. Veterans Bob Wallace and Phil Davis have a successful song-and-dance act after World War II. With romance in mind, the two follow a duo of beautiful singing sisters en route to their Christmas show at a Vermont lodge, which just happens to be owned by Bob and Phil's former army commander. With a dazzling score featuring well-known standards including “Blue Skies,” “I Love A Piano,” “How Deep Is the Ocean” and the perennial title song, White Christmas is an uplifting and classic musical.

White Christmas: In concert will be performed Dec. 17-19. For information and tickets, see website.

Keeping the water warm for our swimmers

New boilers have been purchased for the West Cobb, Mountain View, and South Cobb aquatic centers. The boiler being removed from Mountain View is being repurposed and will replace the boiler at our Central aquatic center. These boilers provide hot water for the Seresco Systems at Mountain View and Central Aquatic Centers and the Pool Pak systems at South Cobb and West Cobb Aquatic Centers.   The Seresco and Pool Pak systems are HVAC systems that perform 2 functions: Their primary function is to maintain the air temperature in the pool area and the secondary function is heat the pool water.

The Seresco and Pool Pak systems are designed to heat and cool the air in the pool area and heat the pool water. However, if the Seresco or Pool Pak systems do not have enough energy/heat to heat the air and the water at the same time then they will only heat the air temperature and the boilers are called on to meet the demand to meet the pool water temperature set point. The existing boilers are operating at capacity while the new boilers are sized to operate more efficiently and with less chance of failure.  PARKS expect to install the new boilers in December, January and February with little noticeable facility downtime.
