Summer Camp Registration to Begin Soon

Cobb PARKS offers a variety of summer camps in arts and performance, recreation programs, tennis, golf and therapeutics for special needs individuals. You can register during the months of March and April.

For more information, see the summer camp page on the PARKS website. Many camps fill up quickly, so don't be left out this summer. Online registration is available for many camp programs. Visit our online registration site to set up an account if you don't already have one.

Lifeguard Training Classes

If you are interested in becoming a lifeguard, the Cobb County Aquatic Centers will be offering Lifeguard Training Classes in March. The course is designed to train participants to be effective professional lifeguards. After successful completion of this course, participants will be certified for two (2) years in the following: Lifeguarding, First Aid and CPR/AED for the professional rescuer (C-PRO). Classes in March will be offered at Mountain View Aquatic Center starting March 4th, West Cobb Aquatic Center starting March 5th, and Central Aquatic Center beginning March 8th.  For more information or to register please contact the facility; Mountain View (770) 509-4925, West Cobb Aquatic Center (770) 222-6700 and Central Aquatic Center (770) 528-8465.

Lifeguards Wanted
Cobb County PARKS is looking for qualified Lifeguards for Seven Springs Water Park and Sewell Park Pool. We are looking for individuals who have Lifeguard Training certification to work this Summer from May – September. To apply for Seven Springs contact the West Cobb Aquatic Center (770) 222-6700 and to apply for Sewell Park Pool contact the Central Aquatic Center (770) 528-8465. If you do not have Lifeguard Training Certification you can take a class at one of our aquatic centers this Spring.  March classes are being offered at these facilities; Mountain View (770) 509-4925, West Cobb Aquatic Center (770) 222-6700 and Central Aquatic Center (770) 528-8465.

Public Input Meetings Set for New Park Properties

Cobb County PARKS will be hosting a series of public input meetings to discuss planning for the future of new park properties purchased through the 2008 PARKS Bond program. Although there is currently no funding for the development of these properties, your input will play a vital role in the planning for future development, once such funding is identified. The meetings are from 6:30pm-8pm at the following locations:

Monday, March 4
Property: 4700 Stilesboro Road, Kennesaw
Meeting Location: West Cobb Senior Center, 4915 Dallas Highway, Powder Springs

Monday, March 11
Property: 4570 Old Westside Road,Powder Springs
Meeting Location: Ron Anderson Recreation Center, 3829 Macedonia Road, Powder Springs

Wednesday, March 20
Property: 6800 Henderson Road, Mableton
Meeting Locatoin: South Cobb Community Center, 620 Lions Club Drive, Mableton

2019 'Fun in the Park' photo contest

As you are out enjoying Cobb parks and facilities, be sure to bring your camera and capture the fun and memories of your sports activities, the beauty of nature and wildlife in the parks and anything else that shows why you enjoy spending time at the park. You can enter up to 10 of your best shots in the 15th annual "Fun in the Park' Photo Contest! The contest is open to all photographers. See rules and download the entry form on the photo contest web page.

Cobb Youth Basketball Teams Excel in Tournament Play

The 2019 Cobb Invitational was recently played at the 5 Cobb recreation centers and the Cobb Civic Center. A total of 25 teams participated from 6 different organizations. Here are the Cobb County winners:

8 & under
Champion - Smyrna
Finalist -  Powder Springs
10 & under
Champion - Smyrna
Finalist -  East Marietta
12 & under
Champion - Powder Springs
Finalist - Smyrna
14 & under 
Champion - Powder Springs
Finalist - East Marietta
18 & under
Champion - Powder Springs
Finalist - East Marietta

In the GRPA District 5 tournament, Powder Springs won both the 14U & 17U and will advance to the state tournament in Savannah. Powder Springs also was runner-up in the 8U and 12U tournament and will advance to the state tournament in Spalding County.

Youth Girls Compete in 3-Point and Free Throw Competition

Cobb PARKS recently hosted a 3-point and free throw competition for youth girls basketball players. The event was held at the Fair Oaks Recreation Center. Here is a list of the winners:

11 & under - Free Throw Champion: Kamla Whitner

Save-the-dates: Chairman to host town hall meetings in the spring

Chairman Mike Boyce will host 14 town hall meetings around the county in March. These town hall meetings will be a great chance to discuss the benefits of the current county budget, priorities for the upcoming county budget and plans for Cobb's transit and transportation systems. There will be two meetings (3pm and 7pm) at each location:

  • Wednesday, March 6th
    East Cobb Senior Center, 3332 Sandy Plains Road, Marietta
  • Thursday, March 7th
